What is it about zombies this year? The "big summer read" is supposed to be Pride and Prejudice and Zombies . . . more zombie movies coming out [what was wrong with Night of the Living Dead?] . . . gaming is becoming zombie-dominated . . . you've got World War Z . . .
Haven't read/watched/listened, but I've been hearing zombie/zombie/zombie lately.
What's up? And am I that old that I don't get it any more?

Depends on how the zombies are depicted. In the game Left 4 Dead, zombies attack in swarms and they are lightning fast. Much more fearsome than the zombies to march on oh, so, slowly.

Yeah modern zombies seem to be quick, like in Dawn of the Dead, I Am Legend, etc. Though the slow ones have their place. Their strength is in numbers. I can't say I'd want to read a book with zombies, though.

Shaun of the Dead is the best zombie movie ever. Discuss.

Shaun of the Dead is the best zombie movie ever. Discuss. "Who died and made you ... 'King of the Zombies'?"

I promised my son I would watch "Quarantine" last night. Wished I hadn't done that. Made in the mold of Blair Witch. A handheld cam with flickering lights provides a nauseating experience.

[threadjack]
I was actually thinking of starting a "worst movie ever" thread. My nominee: "You Light Up My Life" -- a movie I went to because I girl I liked wanted to see it. Big mistake [both, fwiw].

That will be interesting. The whole idea of a zombie is that they aren't self-aware, though more recently that has been spun on its head by movies like I, Legend and Dawn of the Dead where the zombies are organized. A movie taken from a zombie's perspective should be unorthodox if not ingenious.
