Really don't have much time, so this is brief. I was going to try and find a place to watch here in Wainwright, but I was just too bagged.
Saw some highlights and internet clips. Talk about domination. Very, very happy for Machita. I watched this guy in UFC94 and became a fan instantly. Evans never had a chance from the get-go. I never expected that and obviously neither did he.
Congrats to Lyoto Machida. A very humble post-fight interview (only caught a highlight of that). Hope he retains the belt for a long, long time.
Cheers.

If you have the chance watch the reaction on Machida's face as he talks about his win over Evans. He's trained since he was 15 years old ... he gets very emotional after that. www.ufc.com/Cheers.

I tried guys. I watched this entire event. I don't see what you guys do. I wish it were more than three rounds, I'd probably get into it. How many fights actually end before the 15 minutes?
The best part was when the d-bag that fought Hughes thought he won, only to have Hughes' name announced.
Machida didn't really own Evans except right at the end with that flurry, but since the fights are so short maybe a 15 second flurry does constitute an 'own'. I'm no UFC expert.

Thanks Red. I wanted to get out to a place that was showing the fight but I ended up staying where I was because it was a long day.
I was very happy for Machida. More so after seeing his interview on the UFC site. A humble winner for sure. I think he'll be a champion for a while, but I also think this might be the fall Evans might need to more forward.
I also noticed the results of the fight card last night too. I was surprised to see so many fights ending so quickly.
As an aside, I watched a documentary on the "Thrilla in Manila" on the flight to Alberta. Excellent recollection of the Frasier/Ali fight and they actually bring Frasier in for commentary. I guess Ali said that was the closest thing to death he'd ever experienced (a paraphrase). And when asked if he would have fought to the death in that fight, Frasier immediately said "yes." Both fighters were extremely beat up and Ali openly admitted that he didn't know if he would have had enough for the 15th round ... the very round Frasier's corner called the fight, but that Frasier, himself, wanted to continue. Frasier said that Ali was ready to go down, but he never got his chance.
It's on You Tube actually. I don't have any more time, however,
Cheers.
