Ed McMahon, Farrah Fawcett and Michael Jackson all passed away this week. Wow, bad week in Hollywood!

Some friends of mine have tickets to one of the concerts in London. With all the postponment that was going on, it was clear that MJ was not well. RIP. Thriller was my first-ever cassette.

Dom Deluise also passed away last month.
I used to like MJ a lot back in the early 80's, but he gradually left the planet. Still, can't take away what he's accomplished. I think he also owned the rights to the Beatles music a well. Have to check my facts on that though.
Red, I remember when Thriller hit the charts. It literally exploded. I think I was in Kingston for the first time when it was first released. Just an excellent album.
Farrah was one of hottest chicks on the screen back in the 70's. Passing away at 62 is young by today's standards. What's that saying? "60 is the new 40?"
I only associate Ed McMahon with "The Tonight Show."
RIP
Edit: had some time here at work to find this on Wikipedia.
In 1995, Jackson and Sony merged its music publishing businesses.[111] Since then Jackson and Sony have jointly owned most of the Lennon-McCartney songs recorded by The Beatles. Meanwhile, Lennon's estate and McCartney still receive their respective songwriter shares of the royalties. Despite his ownership of most of the Lennon-McCartney publishing, Jackson has only recorded one Lennon-McCartney composition himself, "Come Together" which was featured in his film Moonwalker and HIStory album.
Although the Jackson-Sony catalogue includes most of The Beatles' greatest hits, four of their earliest songs had been published by one of EMI's publishing companies prior to Lennon and McCartney signing with Dick James – and McCartney later succeeded in personally acquiring the publishing rights to "Love Me Do", "Please Please Me", "P.S. I Love You" and "Ask Me Why" from EMI.

As for Farrah, I still remember that poster of her in the red bathing suit. I think it might have been one of the best-selling posters of it's time. I think I remember seeing it in the movie, "Saturday Night Fever"as well.
Didn't seem like all that long ago. Good time; good triggers from that era.
Cheers.

I like some his music but that is as far as it goes. His perversions overshadow his music.

Have to check my facts on that though. He sold more than 61 million albums in the US, held the rights to most of the Beatles songs, and died deeply in debt, to the tune of $400 million. I too had the Farrah Fawcett poster ... surrounded by the hockey player pin-ups in the magazines of the day was Farrah, Samatha Fox, and Heather Thomas (the girl from Fall Guy).

It's been said he made more money from the Beatles catalogue than his own music. Astounding.

It's hard to believe it's possible to actually spend that much money. I have a hard time going through my own money, which is a pittance relative to that of MJ.

I guess the guy was in pretty rough shape physically too. ============================================================== Report: Jackson bald, ribs brokenBy WENN.COM Michael Jackson's ribs were broken as medics frantically tried to resuscitate him from a cardiac arrest, according to the star's autopsy report. British newspaper The Sun has revealed shocking details from the King Of Pop's autopsy, conducted after his untimely death on Thursday. Four puncture sites were found on the 50 year old's chest - appearing to be a result of attempts to restart his heart with shots of adrenaline, according to the publication. And the star's hips, thighs and shoulders were also riddled with needle wounds. The leaked autopsy reveals Jackson weighed just 110 pounds when he died. Pathologists found his stomach empty apart from partially-dissolved pills and samples have now been sent for toxicology tests. Jackson was also discovered to be balding underneath his famed black hair - the document states the star had little more than a "peach fuzz" on his scalp. Coroner officials found the star had bruising on his knees and shins as well as a cut on his back. The three hour autopsy on Friday revealed no indication of trauma or foul play, but a final verdict will take up to six weeks as Los Angeles coroner officials are taking extra time to complete toxicology, neuropathology and pulmonary tests before determining the exact cause. jam.canoe.ca/Music/2009/06/29/9969531-wenn-story.html
