They obviously feel he wants to go home to Alberta. They didn't give up a huge amount to get him. Leopold is also a UFA this summer. The 3rd rounder is not much for someone as highly touted as Jay.

So because it isn't mentioned here, the full trade was Bouwmeester's rights to Calgary in exchange for Leopold's rights and a 3rd round pick.

That's $100,000 more per year than Phaneuf. Does Dion stay, or is he gone? They've got an incredible amount spent on their blue line.

I for one would be shocked if they traded Dion Phaneuf with the Sutters as GM and Coach and him learning in Red Deer under Brent Sutter. Also Dion Phaneuf is from Alberta but if it was for Heatley then maybe I wouldn't be so surprised, and Alberta boy for and Alberta boy.

If Bouwmeester earns $6.6M, what does Komisarek get? You'd be hard pressed to offer him $5M using that relation.
