Were named to the QMJHL Remax challenge, with Lambert a fill in if Bergeron stays in boston.
The QMJHL unveil the roster for the RE/MAX Challenge
(Longueuil, Tuesday October 28, 2003)- Gilles Courteau, Commissioner of the
QMJHL, today announced in press conference the roster for the CHL RE/MAX
Challenge. Gilles Courteau also announced the name of the two honorary
captains who will be in Halifax and Rimouski.
The best QMJHL Canadian players, eligible to the National team pre
selection training camp for the World Junior Championship (no 20-year-old
players) will play 2 games against Russian team inside the CHL RE/MAX
Challenge which will be held in November. The first game will be on
Thursday, November 20th at the Halifax Metro Centre and the second one will
be on Monday, November 24 at the Rimouski Coliseum. The players selection
was done by Mr Blair Mackasey, Hockey Canada head scout, with two (2)
general managers of the QMJHL, Doris Labonté (Rimouski Oceanic) and
Stéphane Pilotte (Val-dOr, Foreurs).

Corey Crawford (Mon), Jeff Drouin-Deslauriers (Chi) and Marc-André Fleury
(Cap); Maxime Daigneault (VdO) will participate if Fleury is absent.
Defensemen:
Jean-Michel Bolduc (Rim), Patrick Coulombe (Rim), Bruno Gervais (Bat), Doug
OBrien (Gat), Alexandre Picard (Cap), Rosario Ruggeri (Chi) and Nathan
Sanders (Mon).
Forwards:
Patrice Bergeron (Bat), Marc-André Bernier (Cap), Steve Bernier (Mon),
Sidney Crosby (Rim), Stephen Dixon (Cap), François-Pierre Guénette (Cap), Jean-François Jacques (BaC), Alexandre Picard (Lew), Marc-Antoine Pouliot (Rim), Danny Stewart (Rim), Maxime Talbot (Gat) and Cory Urquhart (I.P.É.);
Michael Lambert (I.P.É.) will be there if Patrice Bergeron is absent.
Former defenseman Cam Russel, from Halifax, will be the honorary captain
for the game in Halifax. Russel got a nice hockey player career with the
Hull Olympiques (1985-86 to 1988-89), the Chicago Black Hawks and the
Colorado Avalanche, where he ended his professional career in 1998-99. He
also was assistant coach with the Halifax Mooseheads from 2000-01 to
2001-02. Former right winger Louis Sleigher will be the honorary captain in
Rimouski. Sleigher, born in Nouvelle, Quebec, played with the Chicoutimi
Saguenéens (1976-77 to 1977-78), for team of the EHL and AHL and with the
Quebec Nordiques until 1984-85. He was then traded to the Boston Bruins and
ended his career in 1985-86.
Finally, these two (2) important games will be broadcast on Rogers
Sportsnet; the game in Rimouski will also be broadcast on RDS. During this
important CHL RE/MAX Challenge, the Russian team will also play against the
OHL and the WHL.
