3.8 per year (can't believe he got less than Komi ) ...that's gonna be an unpleasant Defense Corp to play against.

Also, why are all the ex Habs staying in the same division!!?? Don't they know there are 24 other teams in the league? I'll be sick if Saku signs in Buffalo or Boston.

...said he was anxiously awaiting Montreal's offer, had discussed it with his family, when the offer came, he said it was very disapointing.
Obviously Gainey tried to low ball him.

And we'd already spent a lot of money on our smurfs. Too bad. I would have like FB in our line-up. Someone who's not afraid to throw em.

With players today it's hard to tell what's ""disappointing". There perpective is out of whack. I would have liked his physical element too however. EDIT: Just read the Toronto Star. Beauchemin said his 1st choice was staying in Anaheim but after his ACL surgery the Ducks lost interest & never made him an offer. He said the Habs expressed interest but his impression was that they were just window shopping. And I think Habsolute posted something yesterday about Pittsburgh declining to make an offer.

Regardless of who we picked up front, I would have taken Beauch ahead of Spacek and Gill... ...then again, if he did like Kovalev and left Bob hanging, then I side with Bob, no time to waste on guys that can't make up their mind and just use us to up the ante (we've had enough of those). Every summer we've lost valuable options by chasing one rabbit that we ended up not signing anyhoo. Bob learned his lesson: Shanahan, Briere, Sundin... the Trifecta was complete. When interest is mutual, things don't linger.

Beauchemin was on CKAC Radio the other day. He said he got an offer and it was similar to TO. He replied that he wanted to add another year. He never heard back from Gainey.
Lake Anardil says, that's his side of the story. I respect Gainey for no going too much in details with failed negotiations. I didn't like that Beauchemin went on French Radio to tell this story like that, knowing very well that it would fuel controversy with the French Media. What happens between 2 parties should stay private in my opinion. It could have just said we spoke but in the end it didn't work out.
I am really curious to see how Beauchemin will do with the Leafs. He will realise that there are no Pronger and Niedermayer to take care of the best players of the other team. HE will most likely be the goto guy on the first pairing. That's a huge difference.
He will also find out that playing in Anaheim ain't the same as playing in TO. Maybe he should have called McCabe before he signed...
Anyway, future will tell...
I wish him the best of ......... nah......nevermind, crash and burn !

The 2 offers were similar yet he goes to Gainey & asks for another year. Then he accepts 3 years from the Leafs. Sounds like a guy that was using the Canadiens to jack up his offer.
