Watching this event reminds me why I like hockey and dislike the Tour. All the athletes look like they skipped weightlifting in gym. None of the athletes ever competed in the Hotdog eating contest at Nathans or came close to a buffet table in Vegas. The Tom Sawyer secret to success is getting all the other guys to do the work for you.

anyone who rides bikes a lot loves the Tour. Some of the best conditioned athletes on Earth. Unfortunately, all we see in North America are the doping issues. If the "North American" sports were tested the way they are in cycling, our eyes would be opened.
Fun to watch this year with some interesting side stories.

That was a great stage yesterday. Contador made everyone look pedestrian on that last climb. Even Armstrong, his teammate, has conceded the tour to him and committed to helping him. I'm pulling for Sastre, the other Spaniard and another great climber, who rides on the Cervelo Test team. He rode Cervelo to victory at the Tour last year, and this year joined the team in its first year. Cervelo is a great Canadian sports story. Two McGill engineering students started a high performance bike company, and now has some of the greatest riders in the world asking to ride their bikes. www.cervelo.com/content.aspx?t=Company&i=History

too bad Sastre is riding like crap this year. Read one puzzling interview from him, sounded like he wasn't even happy to be racing the Tour because all the focus was on Lance and Alberto (well duh, Carlos, they're much better riders than you).
Contador is an animal, what a climber!!! Great stage today as well.
I do love the Cervelo story. My next road bike is going to be one.

Lance Armstrong's girlfriend gave birth to his fifth child. (not bad for a guy with one testacle) Tour de France director demanded little Oliva supply a urine sample for doping tests.

Without Lance there is a lot less interest in the Tour. Some skinny guy is in first place. It rained a lot. Lots of guys fell off their bikes and got hurt. No idea who is winning but they have lots of jerseys for best young guy, fastest sprinter, highest climber, looks good in polka dots. Biggest incident so far is some guy not getting a kiss on the cheek. Interest is way down, even on HabsRus. Lance cheated and wasn't caught until later. Almost everyone in the tour was cheating and it couldn't have been won without cheating. Lance was not a nice person but he was one hell of a cyclist and Macheavellian tactician.
