doesn't mean he wants to talk to them. They are the Atlanta of the Western Conference. One playoff appearance ever & one big star on the team. Not much else. Maybe Boucher would look at them & see a challenge, maybe he would just say no thanks. In any case, I can't see teh organization letting him go so soon. I think they will do what they have to do to hang on to him for a while longer.

I read an article not long ago, where the Habs brass essentially said "of course we won't stand in the way of one of our guys getting forward in his career"..... sp in short, Boucher leaves if he wants to. And then in 3 years when he gets fired, we have a french-speaking candidate with experience to replace JM... ;-)

I still like bringing him up as an assistant coach in 2010-11, and moving JM up the following year with Boucher taking over. I would think Boucher could live with that.

It's back to business tonight for the Dogs at their often-vacant Dog Pound as they host the Texas Stars in the conference finals and league semis. While the Stars have been bolstered with NHL 20 goal scorer Jamie Benn from Dallas, the Dogs don't have any NHL reinforcements on the horizon. In fact, their injury and callup situation forced them to finish the series with Abbotsford only dressing five defensemen.
The injury situation might be improving in the near future, as injured blueliners Vernace, Carle and Weber are all at various stages of repair. Carle has been skating and practicing and the other two are not all that far away from reports from the Spectator. Max Pacioretty who has been on the shelf more than he has been playing, has also started skating. His spot has been taken by a series of youngsters, as the Dogs have employed a bunch of first year pros like Hunter Bishop, Gabriel Dumont, Danny Masse and Olivier Fortier to fill the ranks.
This is the playoffs, and other guys are just stepping up and helping to get the job done. Let's hope the Dogs can keep doing what they have been doing, as they kick off the second half of the playoffs tonight. Reports from the Spec are that veteran Curtis Sandford will get the start, after finishing off with two straight victories in the last round to cap off a nice return from injury.

Trotter, from Desharnais and Russell at 14 ticks of the OT period wins it for the Dogs, 3-2. The Dogs were on a PP after the Stars got caught late in the third for too many visitors on the ice. Trotter had two of the three goals and Desharnais had the other. Sandford with his third straight win. Desharnais, with 1+2 was in on all three goals tonight.
Dogs lead Western Conference Final 1-0.

Though the score was tight, the Dogs outshot Texas nearly 2 to 1. Benn had both Stars goals and he's a huge addition to that team. Terrific player. But not enough. Nice to see Trotter pick up the scoring again. theahl.com/stats/game-summary.php?game_id=1007311

The Star's goalie, Climie, and Benn were their best players for sure. I am sure Benn will get lots of attention from Coach Boucher and company this series. The Dogs play by play guys were remarking on the fact that Trotter was leading the team in ice time after two periods, which is surprising since it is almost always a defenseman. Speaking of D, Vernace was back in the lineup and that meant the Dogs could field 6 healthy blueliners last night. More reinforcements may not be too far away either.

Speaking of reinforcements, I'm still puzzled as to why they haven't signed Fisher to a PTO? I saw him play once on TV and he has some skill. It's great that Vernace is back and Carle not that far behind, but the team didn't have to play with five defensemen, imo.

They signed Nash, a FA, and he has not received a ATO with Hamilton due to (from what I heard) some outstanding school commitments. No biggie. Fischer is a first rounder...what the heck is happening there? The kid has size and great wheels. How could that not help right now with a depleted ranks?

So, another interesting stat about the success of the franchise this springtime.
The Habs and Dogs are the only NHL-AHL combo still left in their respective playoffs. Nothing new there, even the CBC wizards picked up on that. What is even more interesting, is that the Cincy Cyclones are in the ECHL finals again (after being there two seasons ago with Desharnais, Desjardins and friends, going onto win the Kelly Cup). Now, the Habs only have Robert Mayer and Maxim Lacroix (on an AHL contract no less) on the team, so they are not exactly running the show. The Dogs expected to have a lot more guys sent down this year, but alas along came injuries and callups.
Clones are still 4 wins away.
Dogs are still 7 wins away.
Habs are still 8 wins away.
Sure beats golfing.

After 4 years in college hockey it's time to see what he can do. Kind of stings to look at the 2006 draft & see Fischer picked at 20 & Claude Giroux picked at 22.

Game four to OT. That darn Jamie Benn tied it up in the third after the Dogs outplayed the home Texans for most of the game.
Yikes, never a good going to sudden death when you should have won. It does not matter if the Dogs get it done. Fingers crossed now!!

Jamie Benn in OT. Do the Stars have anyone else who has an ounce of offense? Does not matter, all tied up going to game 5 tomorrow night. Not sure I like this puppy. Best of five and next game is tomorrow in Texas. Dogs need that one.

For 4th time in 6 games, regulation will not be enough. 70 shots between the two teams so far, as Dogs hold the edge 40-30. What a battle tonight and in this close series.

Crap, with less than two left in the first OT, the Stars win it 3-2.
Game seven on Wednesday. They deserved a better fate, but that is why they play the game.

I think getting the Habs guys back will help and hopefully shock the Stars. Pyatt is hurt I guess, but Subban is healthy as is Maxwell and I'm not sure if Darche can play too.

Dogs officially will get Maxwell and Subban in time for tomorrow night's Game 7. canadiens.nhl.com/club/news.htm?id=530096RDS is reporting that Pyatt's injury is a concussion, so that is not good. Hopefully he is healthy and ready to go if (and when!!) the Dogs advance to the Finals. However, every case is so different. Darche cannot rejoin the Dogs as they left him off their Clear Day Roster as they could only protect so many players. Carle and Weber are still injured, but both reported to be close to a return. Pacioretty has been back for the last three games. Tough forward Eric Neilson has been out since January, but travelled with the team to Texas last week. He is likely close to being ready to suit up if needed as well. Andrew Conboy is doing well in his absence though. Go Dogs Go!!

only 2600 at game 6. Was it the competition from the Habs game on TV? That's all they have been getting. I think one game in round one was well under 2000. Michael Andlauer just signed a new three year lease extension in March for Copps. This is after their landlord was ready to boot them at the sign of an NHL team, how the landlord scaled back all its marketing of the Dogs, and the fans have turned out in...dozens. There have been rumours of Andlauer looking at a new sports complex in Laval and he also had some testing the waters talks in St. John's when Hamilton was getting over-their-head NHL crazy, so he has other options. After all, they are fielding a pretty competitive product, and generally have so over their time in Hamilton. And the ticket price is good too, not much more than a CHL ticket in most places. You can afford to take the family to an AHL game. They have a very loyal and supportive fan base. Too bad it is not bigger.

Looks like Mathieu Carle will be added tonight too. He was seeing his surgeon to get his medical clearance after the shoulder surgery (the definition of "season-ending" changes when you are still around playing at the end of May). The source is Dogs' play by play guy, Derek Wills on his twitter. twitter.com/dogsplaybyplayFearless prediction: The Dogs will get it done tonight, and move on to play another series!! Like Coach Boucher said yesterday in the Spec, this is why they worked hard all season, to get game seven at home in a critical series. Hope the 2600 are at least loud!!

I didn't go. Listening online.
Will go if/when they make the finals for sure.
Dogs all over the Stars early...up 12-3 in shots. Stars' goalie, Matt Climie, is coming up big...and the Dogs are shooting wide as well.
