The dominoes that will help them keep Kessel perhaps.

Eaves sure is bouncing around. Absolutely, as whomever picks him up will be his fourth team if you count Boston in this very demeaning stop-over. He started out with Ottawa quite well and with lots of promise, but that seemed to go nowhere in Carolina. As good as that 2003 draft was, there are even a number of first rounders who have fizzled a bit (eg, Belle, Stewart) as is always the case. Our guy (AK46) has been slow out of the gates and has not reached his potential either, let's hope this is the year where we see more.

I guess the good thing is that on paper Boston gets weaker in this trade. I this Ward is a servicable defenseman last year.
I remember some Sens fans expecting a 30 goalscorer out of Eaves...... maybe he can hook on to a weaker club and get better some ice time. Just checking his stats and it look like he missed alot of time to injury a couple of seasons ago.

I guess the good thing is that on paper Boston gets weaker in this trade. Unfortunately they had a plan though... They used the freed salary to sign Morris... So all in all the Bruins are now improved... They do seem to be in cap trouble though.... Singing Kessel appears vitually impossible now and they'll probably need to unload yet another salary... I get a feeling they'll try to move Bergeron but with his injury history and salary it won't be easy...

They don't seem to be trying hard to sign Kessell. I guess Kaberle to Boston rumors should stop now.

Morris is awful, worse than any of our top 4 at the moment. Boston isn't improved in the slightest.

I haven't seen enough of Morris to judge his play, but lots of other guys seem to have real doubts about him. He also seems to get hurt a bit. So Boston has exchanged a tough defensive minded, non offensive player for an offensive, seemingly defensively weak player with a higher salary. They won't miss the toughness, since they have enough, but I also wonder about Morris' attitude. Management on his teams seem to become disenchanted with him fairly quickly.
I gather Kessel isn't the best in the locker room either, which perhaps explains the lack of interest in signing him at a higher salary. Chiarelli likely thinks he can do better by trading him, salary and chemistry wise. Let's hope no one bites except at fire sale values.

I figured that they might use the money they saved with Ward as step 1 in a multi step plan to free up money for Kessel. Now, a trade at some point seems very likely in order to clear up cap space...... many Bruins fans think it could be Chuck Kobasew and/or Andrew Ference.

Replacing Ward with Morris is an odd move. I'm not sure the Bruins got better.
I have a lot of respect for Chiarelli and Julien. Either Kessel is asking for far more money than the B's are willing to pay (I heard somewhere that he's asking for $4 million per) or there is some truth to the rumours about his personality and willingness to be a team player.
At worst, he's a very valuable trade asset. Personally, I'd sign him for that kind of money. He's a better player than Ryder...

Pleky and a second pick for Kessel .... not going to happen, but I can't see Boston getting a much better offer.
