Mary Travers passed away two days ago. I found her bio on Wikipedia but I can't think of her without thinking of the trio she belonged to. Peter, Paul and Mary were big in our house when I was growing up. My mom and dad simply loved their music and it wasn't until I was older where I really appreciated it. And, no, Puff the Magic Dragon wasn't about drugs. The trio made that pretty clear. I remember Henry Gibson from Rowan and Martin's Laugh-in. I don't watch a lot of TV, but I guess he was on Street Legal. But, I'll remember him as the Nazi leader in The Blues Brothers. Son of a gun. We're losing a lot of the good ones. RIP

It's interesting being on this board, because I've never heard of either of these people. I mean, I'd heard of Puff the Magic Dragon and "Peter, Paul and Mary" but wouldn't have been able to put it together.
Too bad we're losing celebs whose performances people enjoyed.

Red, there are groups out there that reached literally generations of people. Peter, Paul and Mary did just that.
If you get a chance to watch one of their concerts (I've seen some on CBC in the past) take a look at the age differences in the audience once the camera pans to them. Folks were taking their kids to those concerts.
Cheers.
