Nova Scotia's chief medical officer confirmed yesterday that a second person had succumbed to H1N1, the first having died in July. Both women were in their 50s and both had pre-existing chronic conditions.
I guess we [NS] have been lucky so far. Mind you, I do realize that we have a smaller population than say Ontario or Quebec...

Which would mean that the deaths in Canada now sit at a minimum of 120. If anyone is interested the Public Health Agency of Canada tracks the deaths here: Swine Flu Death Table

My condolensces BC ... I wish you and your family well during this difficult time
Newfoundland's chief coroner changed the death totals here in NL this week. There were originally thought to be 8 deaths, with 7 more deaths likely to have been a result of H1N1. This week, after the autopsies, the number were changed to 5 deaths ... the other 10 that passed away tested positive for H1N1, but the autopsies showed that they could have very well died of something else.
The example the coroner gave was that a person with no underlining condition tests positive for H1N1, and then upon doing an autopsy, it is discovered he had a heart attack .. it is just as likely the heart attack killed him as the H1N1, so they remove that person from the H1N1 deaths.
Is this occuring in any other province?
