Here's a quick update, instead of doing an article for HF.
Jaroslav Halak- Still leading the Slovak junior league in gaa and save %.
SBA 16 games 1.83 gaa 28 ga 448 shots 915 mins 93.75 save %
Christopher Heino-Lindberg- Wow is he facing a ton of rubber. Team is the worst in the league, only one win, and Lindberg has it.
Vallentuna 23 games 4.71 gaa 77 ga 740 shots (wow) 980 mins 89.59 save %
Olivier Michaud- Also on the worst team in his league.
Columbus 11 games 3.56 gaa 34 ga 309 shots 572 mins .890 save %
J-F Damphousse- Has been good one game, shaky the next.
Hamilton 7 games 2.40 gaa 17 ga 175 shots 424 mins .903 save % 3-3-1 1 SO
Joni Puurula- Back from injury, but has a hot goalie in front of him getting top ice time.
HPK 6 games 2.37 gaa 92.54 save % 252 mins 2-2-1

There are some potential gems there, Dan. In my book, specifically, Puurula, Heino Lindberg and Halak. Halak is the guy I have the most hope for. He could get a shot at making the U-20 Team for Slovkia, as he just played in a recent U-20 tournament and put up good numbers. Also he was named top goalie at the U-18 tournament last April. Puurula I have some concerns about. A few people I talk to from Finland think he's really overrated, and so is his coach, who is the Team Finland goalie coach. He lost his starter job this season to Rob Tallas the ex Pens goalie. But there's certainly something there, as a rookie he was outstanding in the playoffs only to be outdone by Letohen. Then he played well as 21 year old starter but he had the top team in the sm-liiga, and they only won the bronze, so they sort of choked according to some Fins. It's tough to say, cause it's so hard to watch them play overseas. Lindberg is in a funny situation, as he is on the top team in the tier-2, but they loaned him to the worst team, who are just pitiful and get badly outshot nightly. But the team owns his rights, Hammerby, they have the top goalie in the league, so Lindberg I would guess will have to stay with Vallentuna again next year, but that's just a guess.

I remember another young prospect for the Habs who played on a really bad team and faced lots of shots. I think his name was Patrick something or other. How better to get in lots of practice, but face a ton of shots? Next step is onto a good team to learn how to win.

What on earth ever happened to Tarasov. He had a good camp here a couple of seasons ago, had a groin injury, and went back to Russia. After that? Is he still a prospect?

Because of his age, I don't think you can call him a 'prospect'. Now if the question was, can he play? Yeah, I think so, and he's probably the only guy who could be a decent back up if Theo was injured/traded. At this point in the year, of course, it's probably not a possibility as Tarasov would have contractual obligations and there's undoubtedly some rule about European players coming over after some point in the year. After Garon, he is surely the best goalie who is still on our list.

You have to sign a Euro player before the deadline, or they have to stay all season. Tarasov is our top goalie after Garon, but it's mute point as he's not with the organization and doesn't appear to be in the future. I liked him a lot, but it looks like he's gone for good.
