Anyone else have a chance to see the torch go through their town? I did Last night, Sidney Crosby ran the second last stretch before the flame made it to downtown Halifax. He passed the flame to Sarah Conrad, snowboarder, at the corner of Brunswick and Carmichael Streets and she ran down Carmichael to the cauldron that was set up in Grand Parade. Sarah's parents were at the corner, attempting to watch their daughter receive the flame from Sidney's torch, but the mob mentality took over [photographers and public alike] and all they ended up seeing was the flame itself being passed. They could not see their daughter through the crowd... I can imagine how disappointed they must have been. We managed to make it through the crowd down to Grand Parade [on the way, we passed Father Christmas, lol!] and found a spot against one of the event trucks where we could see the screen. We got to see a local girls choir sing the Flame song [meh], DJ Skratch Bastid did a couple of "songs", and so did Classified. Mr. Val was complaining that he was cold, so after Classified sang "Oh Canada" [my fave song of the moment], we went home. The torch will be going through my mom's town, Red Deer AB, on day 78, January 15. I'm pretty sure she's going to be somewhere on the parade route, because the [no longer] little girl she used to babysit is supposed to run. I'll have to keep an eye out here to see if I can spot both of them: www.ctvolympics.ca/torch/follow-torch/index.html

Val, are you an Albertan as well? Kinda Was out there for 6 years, still consider it home, probably because my parents are there. Back in the day, my brother was an Oilers fan and I was a Flames fan. Now he likes the 'Nucks and well, you all know who I like

One of my coworkers, Ted Vaughan, will be running in Grand Pré in about 20 minutes Sure hope they clean up the feed before then, there are some extremely blurry moments this morning...

Well, that was the suckiest bit of camera work I've seen in a while. Instead of actually seeing Ted run [although there was a nice close-up of him right at the start and I saw him jog for all of 7 seconds] all I got to see were trees and real estate... That cameraperson needs a lesson in how to follow the action, not the scenery
