Well, that's disappointing. I was expecting at least one of the PEI trio to get an invite but it didn't happen. And Corey Locke wasn't even invited back to the camp, after being cut last year.
Oh well.

Agree. I don't know what the breakdown is between 18 and 19 year olds, but I bet it's more weighted to the 19s. Both Urquhart and Lambert are 18 and will be eligible for the WJC next year. Too bad for Corey Locke - I would have thought he'd at least get an invite.
That pretty much leaves the Big Kat for Habs fans to follow at the tourney.

Sorry but both Lambert and Urquhart are 19 and can never play for the U-20 team.

And the Big Kat will be playing for Belarus, which was relegated to the Second Tier, with teams like Italy, France and Japan (I'm guessing). Kat might not even play, and might stay with his Russian Team.

It looks like we are sending 4 players to the WJC's.
Halak, Linhart, Korneev and Korpikari. Kastsitsyn I don't know if he will go, but their tournament starts next saturday.

So I guess the WJC will be a pretty boring affair for Habs fans.
I assumed Urquhart and Lambert were both 18, but both recently turned 19 and will be 20 by next year's WJC. Too bad. And I guess there's not much point in Kat playing at all against second rate competition.
BTW, Hockey Canada has a good web site where you can scroll through the WJC rosters for Team Canada all the way back to the 1970s.

But we have Higgins going back (possibly) to the American team.

I was surprised that Lambert or Urquhart didn't get a second look. They looked pretty good on the Q team against the Russians and they are both near the top in the Q scoring.
Corey Locke didn't look all that good at all in the two O games against the Russians, so that was his likely downfall. Not a total surprise for me there.
Guess we have to cheer for the lesser know Euro players, which is good, as most of us don't get much chance to actually see them play live.
Will our big Euro star Kasty miss his CSKA-2 and occassional CSKA regular games for the B division of the WJC...doesn't seem like the best career move unless to pad some meaningless stats.

So I guess the WJC will be a pretty boring affair for Habs fans. Sidney Crosby's inclusion should mean it is not a boring affair for any hockey fan. I know I'll be watching the games for the first time in a long, long time.
