Taking the high road and being very open....but says he doesn't recall leaving the stadium that day, or even coming home and committing the offense...due to the combo of pain medication he was on/abusing (his words).
Says he has no reason to not believe the babysitter. "Never in a million years would that have happened if I'd been sober," he said in a clip shown on Sportsnet.
I've never been on pain medication like that...so I can't judge the guy...but he truly seems remorseful....(albeit with the excuse)....and it appears that his family is sticking by him.
The judge believed the pain medication angle and gave him a complete discharge.

I'd like to know why this took a year to be resolved. There was one witness (the babysitter) and probably some character witnesses and people to testify that he was on medication.
From the reports, it doesn't sound like what happened was really that serious, so I sort of wonder if he should be able to keep his job. I don't know, what can you tell about someone from their behavior when on medication like that?

On the surface it seems like a pretty flimsy excuse. However, I'm amazed at how simply flu shots affect people differently. Pain meds are serious business, and can be addictive. Eric has had a pretty impeccable career, and I was surprised when the charges/incident came to the surface.

It gave me the impression that he might be innocent. Then days before the trial, he pleads guilty. Why didn't he just plead guilty at that time instead of waiting so long?

Best man at our wedding did the same thing, waited an entire year to change his plea to guilty (which he was), had a heart attack three days before the sentencing hearing... avoided jail time because the judge felt sorry for him So yes, people changing their plea at the last moment happens more than you think.

Well, he has no memory of it, so he's taking the babysitter at her word. I can imagine it would have taken him a while to come around that decision

Okay so I'm going to ask, because I make a point of not following any non-political and non-economic news.
What the hell are you guys talking about?
