What quarterback would have played a better game than Brett did? Threw for over 400 yards. Outgained the Saints 2 - 1. One interception charged to him, the others to the receivers. Didn't tell Peterson to fumble three times. Spent the better part of the afternoon getting hit after almost every pass and didn't miss a single play with injury. Brett isn't the most modest or likeable guy in the league, but he's a good ol boy, a phenom, an experienced professional in every sense of the word. He and the team deserved a better fate. Howie Long called it when he said Minnesota is the better team but he was betting on the Saints to somehow pull it out. Now for a typical Superbowl,.......Colts 41 Aints 13...................boring.............

There was nothing better about the Vikings, except they were better at putting the ball on the ground. 400 yards of offense is useless when you turn the ball over 5 times.
And as well as Favre played, he turned the most critical play of the game into a Saints possession.

A soldier's soldier in my books. Chapeau!!!

How about those Saints!
Honestly, at one point I thought the Colts were going to score every time they got the ball. But the Saint defence came up huge.
The Saints tried everything; 4th and goal from the 1 1/2-yard line only to be stopped. The onside kick that took everyone off guard, including everyone I was watching the game with. Going for the 2-point conversion and making it.
But that second quarter was a gem. Time of possession was overwhelming for the Saints. After that quarter I figured they'd have a chance.
Hats off to the Saints. Good try by the Colts.
Cheers.

Never seen Manning play so poorly. Excellent game. 213 days until kickoff 2010. Can't wait.

I was very happy for NO, but in another way I didn't mind seeing Manning lose either. I heard one of the announcers before the game say that, it almost seemed like the game was about Manning's second Super Bowl and less about the Colts as a team. That comment made me reflect a bit on the hype surrounding the game and he was right. However, this one was more about the New Orleans Saints than it was about Manning. Cheers.

The first half was kind of boring...the half time show was the worst I've ever seen at a Superbowl, but the 4th quarter made it all worth while!!
Congrats Saints!

Bah, you're just mad 'cause Janet Jackson wasn't invited back. It was definitely a geezer show . . . and tells me that plans for a Who tour shold be scrapped. Well past their "best before" date" . . . kind sad, actually. I won't be fooled again!
Right about that first half . . . thought there'd be more scoring. Great start tot he second half, though . . . and that interception looked good on Manning. I can hear next year's NFL promo, though: This year: Peyton's redemption. Whatever.

One of the best parts of watching the Superbowl is the commercials. This year was the first year I got to see the actuall CBS feed with all the commercials, I'm guessing because I watched it on CBS's High Def channel. As for the 'Who" Superbowl performance, they're saying it was lip synced and even sound of the crowd signing was recorded....pretty weak. They mentioned this morning that they are already talking to Billy Joel for next year.

Don't think the Who were lipsynching. When Townshend missed one of his power chords, it didn't come through. And he was definitely singing, so I'm sure Daltry was as well.
Have to watch it again....but Townshend's mike and guitar were LIVE.

But, if they did you'd think they might have considered choosing a different recording. That aside, I thought they really sounded their age to be honest and I didn't mind at all. I mean, it was "The Who." Too many good triggers with that group. Cheers.

From the review you cited, Reap.
2) The music was pre-recorded and Roger Daltrey's lip-syncing was often out-of-sync. Then again, he's not used to this sort of thing (thankfully).
Is this the "official" word, or his opinion?
Come to think of it.....as I watched the drummer (Zak Starkey, Ringo's son) I noticed that as he was riding his crash-ride cymbal, the effort wasn't correlating to the sound.
Like I said, I'll have to watch it again. Townshend missed a chord and it didn't sound. Pehaps he was LIVE, playing along to the track.

at one point I thought they were lip synching, but man, if they are going to they should have a better sound. they definitely sounded old . . . er, ancient . . . er, their ages.
to be honest, the performance was a sad commentary on the group -- like an aging quarterback hockey player that doesn't know when to hang up the skates. go out in glory, man, and forget about the money ['cause you're too old for the chicks]

I'm in my fifties & I thought they were too old. Doesn't teh NFL want to appeal to a younger audience or does it matter? Last year was Springsteen & before that McCartney.

I'm a big Patriots fan so I didn't mind at all when Manning blew it. I smiled and remembered all the crap I had to deal with when the Giants beat the Pats in the Superbowl a couple of years ago. Payback's a bit@h.
