Linhart had 2 assists including one on Hudler's goal in the Czech's 8-0 win against Ukraine. Korneev had one assist against Slovakia. Halak played well against Russia stopping 31 of 33 shots. www.iihf.com/hydra/tournaments/output/W20/

Hudler's goal was a thing of beauty. He stepped around 2-3 guys before scoring. I wonder if HFLA saw that one As the announcers said, it was 5-0 at the time and the Ukraine seemed to have already given up. The team appeared to merely watch him skate through them. Checks were as rare as an exchange at a crack house.

Korneev got an assist against Austria in Russia's 3-1 win. Slovakia was shutout 5-0. Halak faced 43 shots and let in an easy goal initially but then played very well according to some.

Two shutouts and only 7 goals in 4 games, including three against Russia, US and Sweden, sure make Halak look like a real "steal" from the late rounds of this draft. WOW.
Halak (Slovakia) and Linhart (Czech) will be on TSN together in the quarter final for the right to play Canada in the semis, so we will see one of these guys twice more on TSN this WJC. Korpikari (Finland) and captain Korneev (Russia) will do battle in the other quarter final.

There's an article talking about Halak at HF. Here's what Halak's agent (Walsh) had to say about him: ------------------ On Halak (Montreal’s pick, 2003), Walsh said he received very good comments from Rollie Melanson the assistant coach of Montreal Canadiens. "He told me he was one of the best young goalie he ever seen,” said Walsh. Halak has very quick hands and feet, an excellent technique and covers very well the angles. "He is a great worker and was the best goalie at the last U18 World Championship. He had a superb progression this year, starting with in the junior level and now playing in the Extraleague for HC Slovan Bratislava.” Walsh added that Halak reminds him Ed Belfour. Halak has not signed yet with the Habs. "We are a year or two before having discussions about that,” said the agent who noted there is yet to be a Slovak goalie to make the NHL. --------------------------- Full article is here: www.hockeysfuture.com/article.php?sid=6544&mode=threaded&order=0
