looks like Barker for an expiring contract (Jonsson) and a 1st rounder (Leddy) The guy at the Daily Hab-it blog will be disappointed - he's been on this for quite a while.  |

That's a nice deal for Chicago. They replace Barker on the blueline with a comparable defender in Kim Johnsson plus a recent 1st round pick. The Hawks clearly didn't want to take any salary back beyond this season so it's hard to see how we could have matched that. Maybe Paul Mara plus Louis Leblanc for Barker? Not sure we would have been up for that, and I know Chicago fans have really soured on Barker. Plays a bit soft and doesn't react very fast.

Barker is a nice young affordable piece too bad thats kind of the players we need on the back end.
