Sliver medal for Canada in the women's moguls. Jennifer Heil.
Also, the women's hockey team won 18-zip yesterday.
We have some American brethren on the boards as well. Four medals for the Americans so far.
Cheers.

The women's hockey score is a problem IMO.
There is no competition - they may as well go right to a USA/Canada gold medal game. Any team that bad doesn't belong anywhere near the Olympics.

The women's hockey score is a problem IMO. There is no competition - they may as well go right to a USA/Canada gold medal game. Any team that bad doesn't belong anywhere near the Olympics. The Swede's also have a decent team I think, but you're right - it's essentially a two or three team race with the rest of the 'competition' being second or third grade. Flip side of that is, of course, that competition comes from competing. If women's hockey is ever going to catch on then it's going to come at te expense of a few drubbings. It's the way things work. When Canada took gold in Salt Lake City the only two teams worth mentioning were Canada and the US. Now Sweden is competitive. Eventually the other nations will start to catch up. Of course you'll still have weak teams and strong teams, and I doubt any country is going to challenge the North American dominance of the sport for at least two decades. But the only way to build a sport it to force competition, even if it does result in a few embarassing results. Don't feel too bad about Slovakia - this is the team that thumped the Bulgarian women 82-0 a year or so ago.

I usually watch as much of the summer Olympics as I can, Reap. I used to run the sprints in HS (100/200) but I always took an interest in track and field. The Europeans are huge into athletics. Used to watch the European Championships when they came on. We got two sports channels; Eurosport and Sky Sports. Incredible fan support at athletic events. I heard our NA athletes love competing over there but that was between '86 and '91. Cheers.

I tend to be more active in the summer and don't have my butt glued to the TV, well not like I do in the Winter.

Maelle Ricker First women in Canadian history to win GOLD in Canada! WOOT!!! I changed channels just in time to catch the small final (ranks 5-8) and the big final... where Maelle was so far ahead of every one else, it was awesome! Wish I'd been able to see the entire event though, I thought it had been rescheduled for another day, not simply later today.
