yes, and he was trying to extend them as well.
I didn't know what to make of it: was it what a great PM to be at the Olympics as an ambassador or what a buffoon to be at the Olympics when he should have been at work.

With you totally. Good enough = adequate = average = You don't compete to finish you compete to finish FIRST. Kershaw is my new hero. He didn't say "I was 1.5 seconds way from a first -- that's pretty good", he said "I was 1.5 seconds way from a first -- that's not good enough". Kershaw said that because of the 2 mistakes he made during the race. He fell, and he had a problem changing his skis. Those two mistake cost him upwards of 20-30 seconds. And he realizes that after 50km, to come so close to winning, that is was there for the taking and he failed to reach out and grab it .... ... if he didn't have those 2 mistakes, I bet he would of said "I gave it my best effort, and am happy with that race". But Kershaw knows it wasn't his best effort, because he left precious seconds out on the course. Silver medal. 0.3 seconds behind gold. Bronze medal. 0.7 seconds behind silver. 4th and 5th were squeezed into just 0.6 seconds after that. Over 50K, that seems impossible, doesn't it?

I have to eat some crow too. One week ago I would not have predicted we would surpass the Torino total. But more gold, more medals, more top 5, more top 10, it is safe to say the investment has paid off. The large amount of registrations in skating, skiing and other clubs after the Olympics is probably the coolest spin off of all the success.
Maybe it was just the typically un-Canadian name, "Own the Podium" that I had difficulty with. As a sports fan, I was thoroughly engrossed and entertained.
