ArticleWhat a moronic bit of reasoning on the part of the LCBO stores. I mean it's still offered in Ontario restaurants, bars, and through on-line ordering. If kids want to binge drink, they will....and it'll hardly be with $60 vodka. The actual story behind the Crystal Skulls is interesting. Hey, Skilly....(Skully)....it's made in Newfoundland...as they had to find the purest water.

Insane. I don't understand the banning of the AK-47 bottle either, but I could at least imagine it being offensive to some. But a skull??

welcome to Ontario, MC . . . but don't worry about it, you'll be able to pick some up with your cheap cigarettes . . . as long as you pay the toll.

I saw one of those vodka bottles out in Wainwright, AB, last year. Thought they were kind of neat actually.
Cheers.

Add Santa Beer to the “stupid decisions” list: Ontario's alcohol regulator has moved to ban an Austrian beer favoured by connoisseurs because its name, Samichlaus, means St. Nicholas in Swiss-German.
The Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario has decided the beer's label contravenes rules against advertising to children. It features the name of the beer, Samichlaus, a Swiss-German nickname for the saint behind the Santa Claus legend, and a small black-and-white bearded figure.
Vlado Pavicic, co-owner of Burlington-based Roland and Russell Importers, called the decision "insulting to the average Canadian."
"It's quite a stretch to assume that the average consumer or child can translate from German to English," he said. "As for the image, I fail to see how the picture even resembles a children's character. The man depicted looks like an old fisherman."
Or a weather-beaten hobo. Either way, he bears little resemblance to the man Canadian children know from movies and Coca-Cola ads. . . .

It's proudly on display here ... haven't had the pleasure to enjoy the contents, since I am not a vodka drinker, and it seems almost a shame to open the bottle. Just missed Dan Akroyd last year when he was here to unveil the product ...

[/quote] It reminded me of the "Fisherman's Friend" cough drops actually. If they're trying to protect children then maybe start somewhere else. I don't know, "The Simpsons" maybe? (I find "The Simpsons" to be a gas actually) Now the Ontario government is also giving the UFC a hard time setting up here as well. They seem to have their fingers into a lot recently. Cheers.

Never thought I'd see a mod complaining about Dictatorship, I have no problem with Skull bottles but then I'm OK with Swastika Vodka and Burka hats. If somebody doesn't want to wear a seatbelt or motorcycle helmet, it's between them and their maker, not the government. As long as you aren't hurting somebody else, go for it, and don't tell me that a cartoon of mohammud hurts anybody. Whew! My rant for the day. Playoffs must have ended for the Habs.

Meh - the nanny state rises again. Oh won't somebody think of the children....
Actually it's not that bad, I suppose. The product is available, just not it stores. They haven't banned it. They just don't put it out on display. It could be much worse.
As for the vodka itself - well, if you want to buy something that's been supposedly triple filtered over quartz crystals with supposed mystical properties, and spend sixty bucks doing it - that's your call. I like the fact that they use water from Newfoundland (because hey - you gotta support the home team) but beyond that my interested is rather limited.

Not to mention the tax payers who have to pay to clean your remains off the road (or, even more expensive, treat you in hospital if you survive).
