I'm trying to qualify for a contest at our local sports station, but haven't been lucky enough to get through. The prize is a trip to L.A. to attend the draft.

LA is a great place to visit anytime. I will be at the draft!
After the draft is over we should all make a list of who we would have taken that was still available at each of the Habs selections and post them. Five years from now we can get together after the parade and compare notes.

With too much time of my hands I redid the 2010 Draft. I like to revisit past drafts as can learn from them. This draft was good and bad for Montreal. As they got Brendan Gallagher in 5th round, but also traded up to draft Tinordi in first round.
1 - Tyler Seguin - As much as I hate the Bruins they got best player in draft. 2 - Mark Stone - Steal of the draft for Sens. 3- Taylor Hall - High talent but never helped the Oil for 1st overall. 4 - Eugeny Kuznetsov - With 3 seasons of near a point a game for 26th overall. 5 - Vlad Tarasenko - Steal for Blues, big part of their cup win. 6 - Ryan Johansen - #1 center at 6th is a good pick. 7 - Brendan Gallagher - Timmins finest pick? 8 - Jaden Schwartz - excellent playoff, really like Schwartz. 9 - Cam Fowler - Best defenseman in draft? 10 - Jeff Skinner - His contract looks bad now but had some great seasons. 11 - John Klingberg - Solid defenseman to get at #131. 12 - Kevin Hayes - good player for Philly. 13 - Freddy Anderson - First goalie chosen 14 - Brock Nelson - On pace for 30 goals. 15 - Tyler Toffoli - Solid 20 goals with size, Like to see Montreal sign him and trade a smaller forward for another first. 16 - Phillip Grubauer - Good goalie for both Colorado and Caps 17 - Michal Granlund - 18 - Justin Faulk - Deep draft to get Faulk at 18. 19 - Jason Zucker - Gave the Wild 255 pts, in 431 games. Then bought them a first. 20 - Charlie Coyle - Good player for Bruins. 21 - Zach Hyman - Solid pick for going #123. 22 - Nino Niederreiter - Disappointment for going 5th overall. 23 - Petz Mrazek - Solid goalie, 263 NHL with .910% 24 - Bryan Rust - 24 goals last season for Pitt. 25 - Brent Connolly - Another disappointment going 6th overall 26 - Joonas Donskoi - Talent is starting to thin out. 27 - Calle Jarnkrok - Decent all around player 28 - Nick Bjudstad - Just made first round. 29 - Jesper Fast - Carved out decent NHL career for #157. 30 - Erik Gudbranson - Disappointment for 3rd overall, but still 513 NHL games.
Overall, solid draft, probably better than average. I had 2 of the top 10 picks not make my top 30. Jack Campbell at 11, dangers of drafting goalies high. With 3 other goalies in this draft having better careers than him. Thinking Askarov? Gromley and Forbort, makes 5 of the top 15 pick not to make my first round. Habs Tinordi arguably Timmins biggest mistake? Habs trade up to get him, waste a 2nd. Lot of talent still on board with both picks. Tinordi still hanging in there though. Playing a role for Nashville. I image he is sheltered in their great defense though. Playing selective minutes
