Actually, I think this makes PG look better. Nabakov becomes one more available goalie on the market, further deceasing the value of all the available goalies. San Jose would have known for a while that they were not retaining him and may have even inquired about Halak prior to him being traded. My guess is they probably weren't offering as much as St. Louis.

Smart move by San Jose. I've read that the Sharks' rink (along with Boston) are two arenas where shot totals are inflated, making their goalies look better stat-wise than they actually are. I'm guessing Nabokov is looking for $4 million or so when he's not worth that, and would bet on him going to Russia next season for the money.

I've heard that SJ offered Clowe for Halak. They wanted to offload salary while PG wanted a young prospect. No dance.

I would have strongly considered Clowe and a quality pick. They want us to take salary, they can cough up some picks.
