www.ottawasun.com/sports/hockey/2010/08/10/14985551.htmlI am very pleased to hear this. I think Tinordi will develop faster and be ready in a couple of years. I would think that the relationship between father Mark and the Hunters had a lot to do with it. Also it looks like he will be playing with some highly touted prospects.

This is good news indeed ..... with Leblanc and now Tinordi moving into the CHL and finally getting out of the NCAA, one can only hope that this is a new direction that Gauthier is steering the club towards.

Again excellent news. Lots of games, a more physical style of play, and a coaching staff that wants to encourage his skill development. Good stuff!

Gives me another reason to head down to Brampton Battalion games.

Gives me a reason to get some Kitchener tickets -- if I can. The Bulldogs are still quite a bit more convenient.

Thumbs up from me. Going to a great program with coaches that turn out pro players - save Sergei perhaps.

Tinordi just had his first fight in the OHL.

He held his own. Randell is a tough guy type (45 PIM in 17 games this year), so Tinordi didn't pick his spots.

Tinordi won't be on Team USA at the World Juniors.
Here is a what a scout from an NHL team in the east just told me on this subject:
"I liked this pick by the Canadiens, and I would probably pick him again at the same place (22nd overall). But he's having a very average season. He has not improved his flexibility or hand speed. He is not physical on a regular basis. It goes without saying that it has been difficult, and he is not progressing much. That doesn't mean that he won't play in the NHL. The process will be long in his case. He needs at least two years in junior."Good thing we pulled him out of college, eh?

I hope Tinordi isn't another O'Byrne/Archer player picked for his size, not his skill. A first round pick should be dominating in the juniors, not struggling to keep up.

Good thing we pulled him out of college, eh? We didnt ... it was Tinordi's decision. But maybe we just should stay away from drafting kids, especially defensemen, that are planning on taking the NCAA route. Leblanc's decision to leave the NCAAs didn't hurt him.

New town, more games and less practice. It's an adjustment for him. I'm not terribly worried because the WJC has never been a truly great indicator of success professionally.

Although I personally prefer using a first round pick on a player with more of an upside, I liked what I saw from him in training camp. Still a meeehhhh pick for me, but I still give the picks a couple of seasons before throwing them under the bus.

Especially big guys and especially big defensemen. Komisarek for example, is still developing ;D.

Yeah, that big defensive defender is a role that takes a few years to perfect. I know Hunter had big hopes for a bigger offensive contribution than he has mustered to date, so we shall see. It was not projected to be anything of consequence at the pro level. He does move really well for a big man, but still needs to work on those elite level puck skills.
You definitely want more impact out of a first rounder, especially one that the team moved up and gave up a perfectly good 2nd round pick for this summer. I still am not ready to cast him in the same category as some of our other duds. Far from it, in fact. I think he will be a good one.
As for the current and recent US WJC teams, they are all about speed, speed and more speed. Oh yeah, moving the puck does not hurt either. Tinordi's game is a bit out of synch with what the current selection crew are focussing on in their selection process. He projects to have a good pro role, and I am quite willing to wait. I do hope he gets a really serious look for the team next season though as a 19 year old. Let's not forget this team has a ton of returning players, and those kids all won gold in OT against Canada last year. This year is on home soil, so they are returning as much of that team as they can.

The Knights are on Sportsnet this afternoon, 5 pm Pacific time, vs guelph, so Tinordi should be on display for anyone wanting to catch him.
