ESPNHe's not backing down....speaking to the world on Twitter. Still can't get my head around that. Talk about a PR tool. (Twiiter, I mean....well, maybe Clemens, too!)

You can deny what you did all you want but if you lie to the Grand Jury and they can prove it, they'll bury you. Having said that, it's hard for me to feel sorry for Clemens.
Saw clips of A-Rod first denying he used steroids, then later admitting to it. I don't think he was summoned to the Grand Jury, but it seems the American sports public is very unforgiving. Admit to it and it just seems to go away. I mean, they've seemed to have forgiven A-Rod and Mark Magwire already.
Maybe Clemens missed his chance.
Cheers.

MoreApparently, Pettitte is the key....as he corroborated McNamee's testimony. Of course, Clemens says that Pettitte "misremembers" their conversation. Gut talking here. I think Clemems (and Lance Armstrong for that matter) are arrogant cheats. World class athletes, no question. But I think they took the enhancement route to either achieve, maintain, or prolong their prowess. Not that they're the only two in that respect, by any means.

In the mainstream media--re the most important issues--there's misinformation, disinformation, or no information at all....you'd almost think it was done on purpose. And keep the masses distracted with trivia, fluff, gossip, hearsay. And it works.

Then you must be taking the same medication! I wonder where all this bombardment will lead us? I know politics are getting more and more polarized, some long dormant issues are cropping up again, radical voicesare gatting more air time. All in the name of selling 24/7 air time.

I'll give Clemens credit, though. He's standing up and taking it head-on. Almost like Brian Mulroney did when he ...
... never mind.
Cheers.

Even Pete Rose is offering advice on it. "I wish I had come clean the day they had called me into the [commissioner's] office in 1989 -- I do," Rose says. "Because I would've saved myself a lot of grief, a lot of everything. Money, you name it. The thing that was so hard for me is I had a lot of respect for the game, and I was respected for that while I was in the game. And I miss that, you know? But I messed up, I messed up!" sports.espn.go.com/espn/commentary/news/story?page=howard/100826

At least he's sorry for what he did. Cheers.

too little, too late for Pete. Agree. IMO, Pete Rose's humility has only been a recent development, in the last 5 years. Why is that? Oh, could it be his 15 year period of eligibility was about to run out, and he was hoping that he could get in by admitting the truth? He was eligible for Veteran's Committee consideration in 2007, however, in 2008 the Veteran's Commitee decided to bar players and managers that were on the ineligible list from consideration. He now realizes that his name, his place in history that he wanted so bad, is destroyed in the game and all because he went years lying to everyone ..... and IMO, he continues to lie, because the only reason for this harsh a treatment is because there is evidence that he bet against the Reds. The agreement was he accept the ban, and MLB would not release any formal finding regarding his gambling allegations.... hmmm?
