Gallagher is one who I am starting to take notice of. Never seen him play as hardly ever get chance to see WHL game. He has the statistics and been getting the hype late in season. How's his wheels.. in that is he Desharnairs or another Steve Sullivan? Very much DD rather than SS. He is not an explosive skater, and I imagine that getting quicker should be a priority if he wants to make the jump to the next level. That being said, he always seems to be moving. I am still holding out hope that he can be a decent enough pick. He needs to grow into that big lanky body that has gone skyward. He seems to have decent enough hockey sense, but I just don't see a lot of pro offensive upside. A big tough defensive defender is not a bad thing though. He is still only 18....and 6'7"!! p.s. Tinordi and the Knights are on Sportsnet Ontario tonight at 7pm ET. Check him out and see what you think.

I wish I would have caught that game. Just read your post. Thanks for the headups though. I would like to get a full game to watch Tinordi see how he has progressed since November.

I wish I would have caught that game. Just read your post. Thanks for the headups though. I would like to get a full game to watch Tinordi see how he has progressed since November. London as a team sucked. They did not get a shot on net in the first. It was bad. He lost one long battle with Casey Cizikas behind the net as he ended up getting free enough to get a pass out front that ended up a goal. It was a really hard game to gauge his play, as their team was just not competitive tonight. In the second I believe, he really hammered Casey Cizikas into the boards and he left with a limp wing. A clean hit without any real build up or fanfare, but the lad is big and only going to get stronger. Second straight game I have seen him send someone to the showers. London also plays man to man D in their zone. He has to do a lot of following his check, so it keeps him mobile. He still leans into his guys on the boards as opposed to really smothering them, but I think he is avoiding holding penalties. I await him growing into that body too, as I think that will help.

The "star" prospect of the night without a doubt is Peter Delmas, fresh off his demotion to the ECHL. He was in Hamilton once Sanford went down, but got sent back once the Habs signed MacIntyre on deadline day.
Anyway, the Nailers were winning 2-0 with less than four to go, and then a Cyclone player and Delmas dropped the mitts and ended up both getting booted. The Nailers held on for a 2-1 win. A 56+ minute shutout, a scrap, and a first star.
Welcome pack, Peter!!

Brendan Gallagher was hit on Friday night and left the game, not to return. Looks like possible concussion and he is out anywhere from two weeks to the rest of the season according to News1130 Sports in Vancouver.
Hope the kid is okay, he was on an absolute tear this season.

Any word on Danny Kristo's return? It's been about 6 weeks since the incident.....that frostbite must have been quite serious.
The college hockey regular season is now over so it's just the conference tournaments plus the NCAA tournament if UND makes it.
A tough year for Kristo. He started very slow but then was on a real tear with 17 points in his last 12 games before he got hurt. I hope he's OK, but that was a real stupid thing to do. You pretty much have to assume the kid was drunk and wandering around in the snow without shoes. I can't think of another explanation.

Danny Kristo comes clean on what happened regarding his frostbite. No alcohol, but a young lady and terrible clothing choices was a factor!! www.grandforksherald.com/event/article/id/197147/p.s. He is back training with the team and did not lose any toes. Great news.

Danny had a successful return to duty, as he had a goal and an assist in their 3-2 2OT victory.
Brendan Gallagher is also back from that head shot injury he suffered earlier this month, and he picked up two points in his first two games back. He now has 90 points for the year.
Dustin Walsh picked up two points (1+1) in his team's victorious ECAC third place game and Peter Delmas picked up another shutout down in the ECHL.

Playoff action now in junior and US college....
Louis Leblanc finished the regular season with 58 points in 51 games, and has 3 points in 3 games so far in the playoffs. I noticed that Leblanc led the team by a wide margin with 100 penalty minutes in 51 games - translates into a minor penalty every game. Yikes! Seems very undisciplined for a Harvard kid....
Danny Kristo continues to bounce back with 3 points in 2 tournament games, as North Dakota moves on to the Frozen Four. UND plays Michigan (Mac Bennett, Greg Pateryn) on April 7 at 7:30 CT.

A few playoff notes.
Peter Delmas and Wheeling have won two straight in OT to lead their opening round ECHL playoff series 2-0.
Bournival has 6 points in 5 games against PEI, and his team advanced to the second round against Patrick Roy's Quebec Remparts. The other good news is Shawinigan was awarded the 2012 Mastercard Memorial Cup, so he gets to play in the big event next year in his last year in juniors!
Nigel Dawes now has 41 goals with two games left in Winnipeg this weekend - the battle for first place in the division (okay, not technically a playoff update, but pretty cool regardless - it does have playoff seeding implications!!).
Four NCAA prospects go head to head tonight in the Frozen Four semi-final as Michigan (Bennett and Pateryn) faces North Dakota (Kristo and Cichy). This means two of our NCAA prospects are guaranteed a spot in the Frozen Four final.

The Habs just signed a Swiss: Alain Berger, a big 6'4'' winger, who is playing for the Oshawa General in the OHL. The guy is 20.

Dogs could get some forward reinforcements from the CHL soon as three already signed 20 year old prospects see their respective teams on the brink, down 3-1 in their CHL playoff series.
Leblanc and Lefebvre from Montreal, and recently signed Berger from Oshawa are all one loss away from bidding adieu to their junior hockey careers. Bournival's team is down as well 3-1, but he is still only 18 so will be back in juniors again next season (and hopefully a lock for Team Canada too at the WJC in Alberta). Looks like no Hab prospect is even going to get close to a sniff at the Memorial Cup this season.

Louis Leblanc and the Montreal Juniors are down 3-1 in their series against Lewiston. Leblanc has 3 points in 4 games, but again the guy gets called for A LOT of penalties. He had 100 PIM in 51 regular season games, and another 6 PIM in 4 playoff games. Anybody know what's going on there?

They play a very passive 1-2-2 trap and you often see interference, stick and holding calls when trying to neutralize opposing players coming at you with speed. Leblanc is also pretty tenacious after the puck, so he may get more calls just due to being more involved in more plays. Interesting observation though.

Berger, Leblanc and Lefebvre's junior lives are all done. All three are under contract with the Habs starting next season. I expect all three will be off to OK City to join the Dogs on their Calder Cup playoff run asap.
Bournival had two points, including the game winning goal as Shawinigan tied things up at 3-3 against Patrick Roy's Quebec team. Sudden death coming up. He is now the last non-AHL or ECHL prospect still playing (if you don't count a guy like Emelin playing in the Worlds).

That's an extremely disappointing finish for Leblanc and the Montreal Juniors. They were the second seed in the QMJHL, and they were just eliminated by the 8th seed, in one of the bigger upsets of this year's playoffs. As a big Leblanc fan I'm kind of disappointed in his play; 9 points in 10 games, good enough for 32nd in playoff scoring. Only second on his team in scoring, and woeful on faceoffs. A bad series and a bad ending to his junior season. Hopefully he can make a nice AHL playoff run to take that bitter taste out of his mouth.

Perhaps he was still adjusting to the longer than NCAA season.

Disappointed that he ONLY had 9 points in 10 games, I know it is the Q but that is a lot of expectations for a kid in his first junior playoff run. I know that sounds harsh but you have to consider that he is already 20 years old, one of the older kids in the Q, and was playing on the 2nd best team in the league, a team that had high aspirations of going to the Memorial Cup. AND that he was their go-to offensive guy. They played against the 16th seed and the 8th seed, and were heavy favorites in both series. Nine points in ten games sounds good on it's own, but not when you realize that it was only good for 32nd in league scoring (and games-played was not a factor) whilst playing against two vastly inferior teams. The Montreal Juniors gave up a LOT to get the rights to this kid, because they thought that he could push them over the top. I don't think they were hoping this abbreviated playoff run would be a good learning experience for him. Yeah, I think they're pretty disappointed.

I agree totally, BC. I had high hopes for LL, but upon seeing him play, in the WJC and in a late season game with the Rocket (in which he got 2 goals and an assist), I wasn't pleased with the lack of what I would term dominance. He was better than average, yes, but not considerably so. His strength is quickness and agility with his skating, but he has only average speed.
I don't usually like trading prospect and rarely consider doing so until they're 23 or 24 (or longer in the case of goalies), but I would seriously move LL if an offer came up for a top 6 forward or young d-man. Lars Eller, for example, is a much, much better prospect IMO because of his skating and strength. He doesn't have LL's vision, but I think he'll be a much more productive NHL'er. I could be wrong, but I don't think so.

Not bad signing for AHL depth at this point though. He may surprise. Ya most scouting reports mention his lack of speed which is unfortunate....... but in the same breath they mention his decent hands and he plays in the high traffic areas. Very effective on the PP for Oshawa this season. Most likely he will be expected to work his way through the organization ,starting in the ECHL next year, like most of these undrafted prosepect signings. Adding potential 6'4" power forward is always good. Love these free agent signings!!!

Signing these college players to play in the ECHL is fine and good, how about making a concerted effort at the draft to go after an elite prospect? Why does Philly, for example, manage to do this but we can't? When we do get one (McDonagh) we trade him away for junk. There are no elite prospects in the system and there hasn't been one in a very long time with the exception of Subban. That's what we need, not an another Michael Ryder who may or may not turn out.

I was very impressed with Leblanc's board play at the WJC. Tenacious in the corners, and does a great job operating with the puck in tight quarters. I don't see him as a natural centre, but I do think he can be a good playmaking and scoring winger a la Mark Recchi, or (gulp) Sergei Kostitsyn.
