Happened to my wife’s cousin a few days ago. He was cutting masonry with a cement saw....gas-powered. His wife found him on the deck in an incoherent state....lying down. She called 911.....paramedics said 5 more minutes without treatment and he’d have been gone. Severe carbon-monoxide poisoning. And this guy has worked with power equipment/tools for decades.
Make sure there’s plenty of fresh air when using that kind of equipment. Carbon-monoxide is odorless....and can kill you very quickly. Would a gas mask be beneficial as well?
He’s fine now.
BTW....everyone got detectors in their homes/apartments/condos?

He’s a very lucky man. His wife was waffling between staying outside and going back to the house. If she hadn’t gone back and found him, he’d have passed for sure.
Any other stories out there? So many avoidable injuries/deaths around the house doing odd jobs. Common sense would say if you don’t think you can do it safely, hire a professional or somebody with experience. I guess that would be the biggest piece of advice....but men don’t think that way sometimes.

sounds like something that would be debunked on snopes but it ain't . . .
[not at home but on the job:] guy I knew worked with power tools cut his index finger off with a saw one day. after recovery he was put back on the same place in the plant. bunch of guys were razzing him about it and asked "how did you do that, anyway?'.
yup: he said "I did this,", and when he demonstrated cut off his middle finger.
cross my heart and hope to die, it happened!
