Prospect Offseason Training and Conditioning

An excerpt from an article on Tomas Plekanec's website:

So, I took two weeks off and than I contacted a well-known former Kladno coach if he can help me make with a training plan to make me ready for the new season like as for the previous one. In the end he agreed and prepared me a very good plan, which contained all the different excercises, runs and bycicle rides for individual practice.

There is something very wrong with our prospect development staff if they send guys home for the summer without an individualised training, conditioning, and nutrition plan. I was absolutely shocked and disappointed to read this.

I don't know if that's such a big deal, though it well could be. Perhaps there was an understanding that Pleky would have a plan drawn up by the Kladno coach. Who knows how the other NHL teams deal with European prospects in this regard?

I liked this little comment near the end of the article: "...the only thing miss in all these talks is Montreal…"

He sure is self-effacing. Doesn't pump himself much at all. I hope we find space for him on the big team. I believe he'll make a very sold 2 way player.
