22 year old Slovak defenceman, playing in third season with the Manitoba Moose. Drafted by Nucks 69th overall in 1999. 6'1" 205 lbs according to my McKeen's Yearbook. I posted a link to his career stats on the trade page.

Puck moving Slovak D-man who needs to start putting up more points and work on defensive game (according to TSN).
A project for the farm I guess....

Deportivo, you've been around here long enough to know that the main board is NOT the place to discuss prospects. Instead of posting here, you could have checked the prospects board to see if there was any info on him there, or better yet, have a look in the usual places for his scouting reports (TSN, HF, etc.). Sorry to take this out on you, but there have been so many useless threads on the main board in the last few days and weeks that lots of good stuff gets pushed to the second page. Guy!'s scouting report of last night's game is already gone.

Anytime you trade a useless slug for a kid that's played in the wjc's and won a memorial cup, it's a good move in my book.

What is the Van thinking on this? I mean Blouin?
I could see this if the player in question, was say, Nassredine!
I guess we can now speculate that Hainsey or Beauchemin will be brought up and Vydareny replaces one of them on the farm....or maybe no speculation at all. Purely a minor league deal, all around. to bolster the Dogs, with depth.

something I found about Vydareny on HF Canucks board: hfboards.com/showthread.php?t=60518"I really liked Vydarney, he's a good skating d-man who can man the point on the powerplay and has good offensive potential." "Can skate really well, and as was said before has some offensive potential.. But just couldn't put it together. He keeps getting older and with young guys Koltsov and Mojzis there wasn't any space for him. He's fallen so far down on the depth chart that he couldn't even make it full time on the farm team.." "Good skating defenseman, yes, but "good offensive potential"? I don't think so. Vydareny has never put up good offensive numbers in this his 4th season. Vydareny's main asset is his speed, he's real fast, but all other assets of his game are average at best. I don't see him ever becoming much at the NHL level, skating can only get you so far." hfboards.com/showthread.php?t=60640"He's an inigma. Played well in Junior, but hasn't done much since. Apparently he can skate like the wind, but can't put his game together at an NHL level." "Vydareny is a tremendous skater. Has speed and power in his stride, and was definitely the best skating Canuck D-man in every camp he attended. Unfortunately, the rest of his game has never caught up to his raw skill, so he continues to struggle mightily even in the AHL, and is borderline ECHL material at this point." R.

Let's see what the tandem of Jarvis and Wilson can do in Hamilton. At 22, and given that we all agree that defencemen take longer to develop, we could see something here down the road. Given his skating abilities, defensive positioning can be taught. We got Vancouver when they were grasping at straws to get some "tough" guy to offset the likely loss of Bertuzzi. So, we gave them our "ice grazer" (copyright HA) in order that they can have someone they can insert into the lineup for a game where a melee is likely (ie, Colorado), and then toss him to the wolves later...essentially a paper plate, a disposable contact, tear away pants...well, at least the first two...

the Vancouver fans believe that Blouin was acquired to be a tough guy with Manitoba. apparently they lost the one they had before. the Nucks also have May, Cooke and Brookbank as their tough guys so I don't think Blouin will see much action in the NHL. but you never know...

Blouin is 30 & on the way down, this kid is 22 and who knows...good move. A good trade, but the Earth's orbit is still 92,000,000 miles from the sun. Not much change and not likely to ever make an impact.

Lurker.....sorry to get you all up tight about posting this on the main board. Figured it was deadline day and some people may have been interested in it. If it wasn't deadline day, I would likely have posted it where it belongs.
Take it easy....it's not the end of the world.
