Well ... okay ... barely a ripple. BG sent Blouin off to Vancouver for Rene Vydareny. Anyone know anything about this guy. All sportsnet has on him is that he's a defenceman. I'll do some digging to see what I can find.

Well ... okay ... barely a ripple. BG sent Blouin off to Vancouver for Rene Vydareny. Anyone know anything about this guy. All sportsnet has on him is that he's a defenceman. I'll do some digging to see what I can find. Here's what Hockey's Future has to say: Shoots: Left Height: 6-1 Weight: 201 lbs Birthdate: 1981-05-06 Hometown: Bratislava, Slovakia Acquired: Round 3 #69 overall 1999 NHL Entry Draft History Finally making some steps forward last season, Vydareny is beginning to repay the investment made by the Canucks to sign him away from his Slovakian Club Team. After a second straight slow start this season in Manitoba, he was sent down to Columbia, so he could get more ice time, and to work on the holes in his game. He finished the season in Manitoba, helping solidify one of the better defensive units in the AHL. Talent Analysis A highly-skilled player, he relied mostly on his offensive skills while in junior (both in Slovakia and with Rimouski), so his defensive skills were more or less neglected until this season. However, his offensive skill set is impressive. Vydareny boasts a hard shot from the point, which is also usually on net, excellent skating skills, including good speed and acceleration. His first pass out of the zone is solid and usually on target. Defensively, however, a lot of work still remains to be done. Positionally, he's below-average, with good foot-speed that lets him process the game quicker; and to get back into position. Vydareny pinches too often, and ends up getting burned down at the other end. He's not physical, but that can be fixed eventually. Future A #5-6 defenseman. He will be an NHL player, but likely not a high end one. Stats Season Team Lge GP G A Pts PIM 1999-00 Rimouski Oceanic QMJHL 51 7 23 30 41 2000-01 Kansas-City Blades IHL 39 0 1 1 25 2001-02 Columbia Inferno ECHL 10 2 1 3 9 2001-02 Manitoba Moose AHL 61 3 11 14 15 2002-03 Manitoba Moose AHL 71 2 8 10 46 He was 15th on Vancouver's top prospects list according to HF. I'm not sure that he has a future at the NHL level or not, but hey ... BG got a warm body for Blouin. That may be the steal of the draft. ;D

Good shot? Good speed and acceleration? Need to work on his defensive game?
I say switch him from D to RW and see how it goes...

I guess you missed the three threads on this trade over on the prospects board. I did. Appolgies. Just saw the threads, and comments about not making a move on deadline day, and I thought I'd post a remark where most everyone would see it. I saw nothing in Trades and Trade Rumours. At the very least, a move this club makes gets posted here or in the Trades section. Rarely the Prospects section. So I didn't think to look there.
