Hainsey is not part of our future. Thanks for the info, I'll take him off the top 20 then. You heard this from Gainey right?

Thanks for the info, I'll take him off the top 20 then. You heard this from Gainey right? He didn't say it, but sometimes actions speak louder than words. His top defenseman goes down and he first calls up a career minor leaguer in Beauchemin to replace him on the roster, and then Karl Dykhuis, a guy he banished to the minors despite having a hefty contract. Now you tell me. Your supposed top defense prospect in the minors who was good enough to make the team out of training camp is no longer welcome with the big club as an injury replacement. Why is that ?

Why is that ? Beauchemin is better then Hainsey, imo. At least he's clearly more steady in his own end, and has been the Dogs top defensemen for the last 2 years. He should have been rewarded with a call up and was, although it was a minor one. Dykhuis 2 years ago was one of our top defensemen and was a +16 that year, plus he has around 700 NHL games of experience. Why them over Hainsey. Hainsey was sent down to work on his defensive play since he's an offensive defensemen that is prone to giveaways in his own end. And to be more physical. He has not done this in any of the games I've been at (only 4) or in any of the 10 or so games that I have on tape. When you send someone down to work on a certain part of their game and they don't really improve in that area, then they shouldn't be called up especially when you have a prospect that's playing better and has been all along imo and a average defensemen with a ton of NHL experience who can make the transition easier, imo. Hainsey is about to turn 23, and still has a future with us for now. He has the skills but lacks the smarts and effort. We'll see what he does at camp next year, until then he's still a part of this teams future.

Why is that ? I will give you points for consistency on this subject. Here is my counter: ...or maybe the consistency of playing in one place and getting top end ice time instead of sitting in the rafters is better for his development at this stage in his career. Maybe he is just not ready between the ears yet and the team is working on that as well...and don't want to mess it up at this early stage by throwing him back into the big city NHL lights right away. It's as equally plausible an answer.

We have been hearing that for 3 years now. Its not like Hainsey is trying to break through on a team with a defense like the RedWings or the Sens. We 're an above average bunch at best.

Ryder took a few years to figure things out. Maybe by the time Hainsey is 26 his rent will be paid, he'll have found God, married, settled down and learned that working at his career and craft are more important than sulking about not being given the opportunities he hasn't earned.

We 're an above average bunch at best. Doesnt' mean he isn't a part of the future. We'll see next year cause he needs to clear waivers to be sent down. I look forward to seeing what he can do with the Habs in the future. Lots of talent.
