Corey will make it. He's the Hab's best prospect, hardest worker and most upside potential. I usually prefer size and speed, but Corey is special.

Last year Corey Locke played on a powerful Ottawa team and ran away with the scoring title. This lear he trailed Corey Perry of the London Knights most of the year and pulled ahead to win the title at the end of the season.
Locke played on a weaker team and did most of the scoring himself.

Although it looks like a down year for Locke (just barely winning the OHL scoring title) , he really had a great year. There's nothing left for him to prove in Jr. hockey and it's AHL or NHL next year. Watch him lead all rookies in scoring in training camp.

That's why Gainey is the GM and I'm not. My opinion is based on seeing most of them play 2 - 5 times, video hilights and mostly reviews and statistics. I've never met George Bush or John Kerry, but from what I've read about them, I'm voting for Bush.

The coaches and scouts not only have seen them play, but also know about their off ice activities, training, work ethic and character.

When I see Kastitsyn playing six games a year for six different teams, I don't much care how flashy his stickhandling is, his coaches don't play him and he hasn't excelled anywhere.
Locke has played for the same team last year and this year and excelled in a long schedule. I'll go for the bird in the hand that's proven itself.

There may be something to what you say, but:

I believe that three of those six different teams were at international championships.

Wasn't Tikhonov his coach at CSKA and isn't he a bullheadeed tyrant that it's very easy to get on the wrong side of?

Wasn't Kastsitsyn doing well and scoring almost a goal a game over a significant period with CSKA-2?

Wasn't he in a foreign country in Russia? Hasn't he gone home where it will be easier for
him to play for his national team?

I seem to recall that coaches needed to be a little tactful with Maurice Richard.

You're right, but when I hire people and I see that they have worked in six different places; they may have valid reasons for leaving each joband they may have encountered some tyranical bosses along the way, but I'll hire the guy who has succeeded and excelled and is currently employed.

he only played for two teams: CSKA, where he played for the big team and junior team, and Belarus national team (U-20 and Senior squads). how is that different from Marc-Andre Fleury who played for his junior team, the Penguins and his country at the WJC?

Although the 67's face elimination, Locke has scored 7 goals and 3 assists in 6 games. The future looks brighter with lots of good prospect playing Jr. hockey.

Locke had two goals and an assist in Ottawa's big Game 6 victory while facing elimination. They now live to play Game 7 at home tonight. Andre Deveaux, another Hab prospect, scored a goal in Owen Sound's Game 6, while also facing elimination. They also play tonight in Game 7.

It is really nice to see that Locke and other prospects are big game performers, that must make management smile a little.

Both Hab prospects in the OHL saw their post season end tonight, unfortunately. Locke's Ottawa team lost in Game 7 at home and Deveaux's Owen Sound lost in Game 7 to a very tough Guelph team.

Wonder if Hamilton will look at them as potential Amateur Try Outs going into the playoffs.

More like why would they? Why pay him to play in Ottawa? He was too young for the AHL/ECHL so why not save money and let him play one or even two which would seem pointless, as the real test for Locke will be how he handles the AHL, but if there's a lockout they may want him to spend another year in Ottawa as an overager.
