I post periodically over at HF. Once every couple of weeks or so. Last night for sure during the Pens-Leafs game. Usually attacked like a meatball in a piranha tank. Same here but never posted in a long time................ hate the gang mentality when your opinion doesn't match the popular opinion so your basically told your an idiot. Anyhow 32. Believe it or not I'm jealous of the older guys here. You guys got to see some great Montreal hockey teams which unfortunatley I never got to see. You guys are very lucky!!!! you can understand why we're unhappy and why Cranky's cranky

Still chasing 20 year olds...............on the ice. I prefer 26 year olds. And yes, they're on the ice P.S. - I still have all my hair (albeit not the original colour). How many of you can still say that? I have all my hair But like you, it's nowhere near it's original colour... This is a very MATURE board. Well Val is only 21!! Thanks but you know better than that! had to clean my glasses . . . mis-read the word BOARD [and now I'll turn my hearing aid off so I can't hear her yelling at me ;D ] Are you calling me a broad? Just you see if I ever make another trade with you, mad-trader! *** Anyhow, I'm still 41... for the next 12 days, that is

Anyhow, I'm still 41... for the next 12 days, that is OMG You're OLD! Dude, I just *act* like a teenager. Were I ever to meet any of the Habs, I would probably faint dead away and Mr. Val would have to ask them for autographs [that might be more teenage behaviour, actually...]

I like to post and read on this board because the moderators are doing a good job maintaining control, and the discussions/comments are more constructive in nature then other boards I used to visit.

Same here but never posted in a long time................ hate the gang mentality when your opinion doesn't match the popular opinion so your basically told your an idiot. This pack mentality is prevalent on a lot of boards where the majority of community members have something in common with each other: * Original members of the board, or * All routing for the same team And it's very easy to threaten some of these guys with something as small as a differing opinion. I often tell my students that they were ripped off having missed the 70's. And I mean that sincerely. Not only the Habs dynasty of the 70's, but the attitudes, the mindset was all different. We were coming out of the 60's and ... well, I could go on for an hour. Cheers.

My kids are late teenagers, neither like the HABS, never have. They don't hate them, they just don't care for them. When I ask them why, their answers always revolve around the same: Dad, they're the dullest thing, they're no good and when they have stars, they trade them... Their reality is teams like San Jose, Pittsburgh, Detroit, Philly, Tampa, NJ are good and/or exciting. Montreal? Pfffffft! Good for geezers who reminisce about how things were 20-30-40 ago. Heck my own passion level for this team has eroded regularily. I know for sue that if I had been exposed only to the last 15 years or so of this franchise, I probably wouldn't be a fan either.

I wonder if those loyalties change with the fortunes of the team. Whenever I see someone with a Crosby shirt I want to ask - were you there before he arrived or are you just on the bandwagon? Where will you be when he's left Pittsburgh? It's easy to ride the tails of a successful team. My admiration is reserved for the long time fans who stick with a franchise that isn't the flavor of the month.

Wouldn't call them bandwagon jumpers, since they never actually were in my bandwagon at any point! My youngest always had a thing for the Sharks (at first I think it had to do with the shirt/logo/scheme), he started liking them when Vinny Damphousse was there so he never actually saw them when they really were bad. He hates Detroit like we hate the Leafs! My oldest was a fan of Marty Brodeur, did a paper on him for school when he was a kid... So naturally he was a fan of NJ, and again, he never saw them when they were quite bad. He hates the Rangers. Both of them really like The Bolts too. But that's a familly thing We all really like the Bolts ever since Vinny entered the league, we often went to the Bell Center catch Bolts/HABS games.

Did you take them to a priest? They may be possessed. by Laff fairies. LOL! I should say they are always amazed at Vintage HABS footage though. When they show stuff from Roy, Lafleur, Robinson, etc... they love it. We all went to see the Maurice Richard movie, they loved it. They understand how this team was the dominant team of the league for ages, like the Yankees are to baseball, but they simply don't make the link between those HABS and the team they always saw in their young lives.

Been lurking on this board for many many years. Always come back whenever something of note is going on with my Habs, just to check out the mood and tone on the board. But have never bothered signing up and posting. Been reading the posts by Dis, CO, and all the rest for years. What the hell, might as well sign up and join in once in a while.
I'm 37. Very much a fan during the 86 run, a extremely engaged in the 93 win. I'm a Mike McPhee fan, thus the numbers on my username. Loved the old PK days of McPhee and Courtnall, best combo ever. Alive for the late 70's cups but no memories there other than a tattered old jersey that my 5 year old today now wears.
Great board here guys, very intelligent, very mature, no flaming like you see on other boards. Nice thing you've created here.

And here I thought I was communing with a bunch of internet teeny boppers! Put me down for 55 (and I'm not talking speed limits, unfortunately). P.S. - I still have all my hair (albeit not the original colour). How many of you can still say that? Just for the record, I've aged at least 10 years since last night's game. Between that and the previous game against the Bruins I'm starting to question why I bother following hockey at all. Maybe it's time for me to enjoy the more pastoral qualities of a laid back sport like baseball........ But dammit, I can't get hockey out of my blood! I just wish someone would fix the game once and for all. Zdeno Chara, Trevor Gillies, the Boston Bruins, the Broad Street Bullies of the 70's, all warts on the otherwise fine complexion of the world's best sport.
