I don't like obama for his politics. He is an empty suit that is driving the US into the ground. Sure, Twiddle Dumb Bush had a hand in it too but obama is clueless and driving the US into economic ruin. obama is spending TRILIONS to get what? THIS? One in eight Americans on foodstamps? One in six unemployed or given up finding work? The dollar crashing? As for Bin Laden. I question the timing and the need to hoopla over it. He kills Bin Laden and the next day he finds time to go lay a wreath at Ground Zero. The we have slow leaks about "Bin Laden porn stashes". Cheap politics. Mark my words, you will hear about "breaking up cells" based on the intel they got from the raid. Couple of months later, same thing. "Give them bread and circuses". today.msnbc.msn.com/id/30158105/ns/today-today_news/t/americas-hidden-unemployment-crisis/

American politics:
"Bringing freedom and democracy to the Middle East" a worthy investment of trillions.
"Trying to bring health care to the masses" socialism/communism.
I bring this up to Republican Americans I know, and not one can give me a straight answer.

The Americans were in the midst of a recession in January 2008 , and still really have not found there way out of it. A recession that was caused by past governments. Canada was, if you are to believe our government, barely touched by this recession. Yet the province of Ontario has seen an increase in food boank usage of 7.5% since last year. Since the recession of 2008, Ontario has seen a 30% increase in food bank usage .... Ontarians are now the THRID largest users per capita of food banks in the country. Why aren't you taking Harper to task on this? By the way - The American unemployment rate is 8.7%, the Canadian unemployment rate is 7.6% .

Doesn't matter if they're Donkeys or Elephants.....the masses ain't got no oil. Not much return on "investment". I don't think it's as simple as oil. The US, under Republican rule, has a history of wanting to keep the war machine going. Democrats would rather spend tax dollars in house. Republican supporters see it as spending more, and for some reason are okay with 'helping those less fortunate' in other countries. It's not spending more though. Once the troops are home, it's about a shift in spending. At some point, you have to take care of your own - beit health care or education. Both have suffered.

By the way - The American unemployment rate is 8.7%, the Canadian unemployment rate is 7.6% . No it's not. It's far higher if you include those who have given up trying to find a job. Read the link provided. Here in the U.S., the cutbacks of temporary workers mean the labor market is in much worse shape than the headline 8.5 percent jobless figure for March would suggest. Throw in part-timers who would like to work more and unemployed workers who have given up their job search, and you come up with a jobless rate closer to 15.6 percent, according to one measure buried in the Bureau of Labor Statistics' monthly Employment Situation report.I use to look at those reports regularly last year to see if those trillions did any good. They haven't. And yes, I am aware that Ontario economy stinks that's why I'm voting for McGuinty, He has the renown ability to tax us out of any money we have left. VOTE MCGUINTY

VOTE MCGUINTY So in the US , its the federal government's fault for all the unemployment ... and in Canada its the provincial governement's fault? I'm willing to bet if you did the same analysis in Canada, you'd find a nice guess (cause that's all that article is, is a nice "conservatice" guess) that suggests the real unemployment rate in Canada is around 12-13-14% as well ... How much money did our federal government spend on its Economic Action Plan? Bailing out the automotive industry? etc etc ... Trillions in the states (330 million pop. ) = Billions in Canada (33 million pop). We have been told that Canada hasnt been hit hard by the "recession" ... but we went from billions in surplus, to now being in debt and running deficits - deficits that are significant enough that our federal government will not put its election platform into effect until we are no longer in deficit. So Canada has spent a gross amount of money as well since 2008 (the starting date of the graph), and yet we still have a significant increase in the amount of people in this country availing of food banks ... ... so if you are to suggest Obama has failed to create jobs and keep people off food stamps, then Harper has failed as well.

Apples and chicken soup. Want to compare current and future Canadian deficits versus US deficits? Go for it. I'm not suggesting obama has failed, I'm suggesting that he is an epic failure. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_public_debtonline.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052748704889404576277272043098698.html
