It's been a while since I saw a Dogs game on TV, and had fallen out of the loop somewhat. I went by their site just to see what was up. Saw a couple of things of note.
1. First in the division. Another strong season from the Bulldogs. Contributions from everyone, and good coaching. Jarvis will be in the NHL before long.
2. Hossa really picked up the pace in the second half. He finished the year with 40pts in 57 games. With 18g and 22 assists, it shows some balance to his game. Hopefully the season with Jarvis has saved this promising prospect. I can only assume that he may have been offered up for Kovalev first, or perhaps his stronger play has convinced the team to keep him around a little longer.
3. Pleks, Perezhogin, Higgins, and Gratton led the way offensively (aside from Balej). It's nice that the youth is still a big part of the team's success.
4. The team's +/- is outstanding. Of the regulars, only Olvestad and Ferland are minus players. With 2g and 9pts, JP Cote's +27 is a thing to behold.
5. Hainsey had a decent season stats-wise. Seven goals and 31 points in 54 games is good. His +14 means he was taking care of his end pretty well too. Only Cote and *cough* Traverse had higher a +/- on defence. People who get to see Dogs games regularly can speak more on his game and/or attitude.
6. With 96pts, the team is about seventh overall in the league. The team is 4th in goals for, tied for 6th in goals allowed, and third in goal differential. They're also .500 on the road, with a 17-17-5-1 record, which is about 8th overall. The home record is 24-8-5-3, which is tied for third in wins at home. Their wins to losses differential at home is near the best. All in all a great season.
7. As long as they don't have to play the Toronto Roadrunners, they'll be alright.
