Carter is a shooting center. How well does that fit with Nash I wonder ...
Umberger's definitely on a list of players I'd like to have. He'd add a good mix of scoring and jam, even though he's a little more expensive than I'd like.

No way ANY Flyers player is coming to Mtl. Holmgren would never trade to a conference rival, especially not a player like Carter.

Holmgren would never trade to a conference rival, especially not a player like Carter. there was well discussed trade speculation a couple of years ago - Carter for Kaberle. I've heard this discussed a lot over the last couple of years from a variety of sources so it's not out of the question. Not saying it will happen but he has picked up some of his D from eastern teams - IE: Coburn, Meszaros. |

Setting aside the matter of talent (cough, cough), isn't Kaberle a UFA at the end of this season, and isn't Carter signed for a couple more at least? The UFA status alone scotches (hmmmm, scotch) that deal.

Hard to figure out the thinking. I love the aggressiveness of Paul Holmgren, but if you stacked up all the players involved.....wouldn't Richards and Carter be 1/2? And if they had to unload those guys in order to bring Bryzgalov into the mix...well that may be losing gamble. |

looks like they are taking themselves out of the President's Trophy race. If the money saved is for Bryz [who may be good but hasn't proven himself yet] then they may be in just as deep trouble as before . . . just a different kind of trouble.
