I did a mock draft of just the Hab picks. I do it every year since '01, where I've gotten Perezhogin, Higgins right (had Hemsky and Parise as the other 1st rounders I missed) www.habsworld.net/show_prospect.php?id=602

Way to go montreal! It shows how fans like us (me) don't know much about these kids and probably have nevr seen most of them play. That's why we rely on Gainey and he relies on his scouts. I just like: 1. past performance 2. speed 3. talent 4. size 5. skating

I have chosen one player from North America and one from Europe for each draft position. Sleeper of the draft - Brandon Dubinsky - Portland Winterhawks. #18 Mike Green - Saskatoon 6'1.5" 198 RD-R Lauri Korpiskoski - TPS Finland 6'1" 183 W-L #80 Tyler Haskins - Toronto St. Michaels 6'1" 177 C-R Sergei Shirokov - CSKA Russia 6'0" 176 LW-R #90 Paul Stastny - River City 6'0" 194 C-L Stanislav Balan - Zlin Czech 6'1" 165 C/W-L #94 Eric Hunter - Prince George 6'1" 192 C-L Sergei Karetin - CSKA Russia 6'3" 194 D-L #140 Scott Lehman - Toronto St. Michaels 6'1" 194 LD-L Michal Birner - Slavia Czech 6'0" 183 W-L #170 David Schultz - Swift Current 6'3" 201 RD-R Martin Bucek - Vitkovice Czec 6'1" 187 W-R #200 Troy Brouwer - Moose Jaw 6'1.5" 216 RW Martin Rygl - Liberec Czech 6'1" 196 RD-R #230 Jordan Lavallee - Quebec 6'2.5" 205 LW Erik Piatak - Poprad Slovak 6'1" 183 C-R #260 Dan Turple - Oshawa 6'5" 210 G Aleksis Ahlgvist - Jyvaskyla Finalnd 6'0" 176 G PS - Is anyone going to the draft? It would be great if Montreal could get a draft day interview with one of the picks.

Bob, I had Shirokov listed, but he has opted out from what I hear, although it's still unknown.
Paul Stastny has opted out for sure.
I stayed away from Green when ISS said he's soft, only seen him a few times can't say I was impressed but does seem to have some good offensive abilities.
Haskins I like a lot, would be a solid 3rd round pick.
LaVallee would be a good late pick, was passed over last year I believe, but he's got decent skills, is physical too.

Great job montreal. Lots of names I hadn't previously heard of. I'm getting a headache just trying to sort out the first round this year, which is why I'm letting that Chip-chip-chura ditty dictate my preference (though there are plently of other players I wouldn't seeing in the pipeline.

I saw Green play a couple of times... he didn't look soft but the rest of his team sure did. It has to be difficult for scouts to evaluate players when there is absolutely no one else on the team worth looking at. He does seem to see the ice well and anticipate the play... but then again, his entire team was hopeless. Maybe it was simply because he looked better than his teammates.
