I dunno about Arnott, but I do know it's strange seeing someone with my first name posting - but hey, it just means our parents all had good taste in names ;-)

Jason Arnott would be a great addition. He's still relatively young (29), and his size (6'4", 225lbs) would be a huge shot in the arm for the Habs.
IMO, the only drawback in acquiring Arnott would be his salary ($3.85M).

It might hurt us in the short term, but if a deal for Arnott were to go down, I'd like to see one of either Brisebois or Rivet go the other way. Make room for either youth or another vet at a cheaper price.
That said, I don't see it happening. I think BG is content with our top two centres. The RH centre he refers to will most likely be someone for either of the bottom two lines. Someone with the potential to replace Juneau.

I am sitting on the fence wrt Arnott.... He strikes me as a "lazy" player...by this I mean that he doesn't always show up for the game...CJ may be able to convince him to give 100% every night, but he wouldn't be the first guy to try...without too much success. Don't get me wrong, when he is on, he is ON....but he just doesn't seem to be ON as much as he needs to be. It's a fact, we don't hear too much about him, other than trade rumours. THF ps. I am happy to be part of the Paul club!

2 wins over St. Loo and a tie with the Wings, have Dallas thinking playoffs, they'll be no fire sale thats for sure.Whatever deal there is to be done will cost a bit more if Dallas remains in the playoff battle. HFTO

We are paying Rivet almost as much. And Briesbois more. It's not that I don't think that Arnott is worth $3.85M. I think he's a great player and he's worth the money, it's just that Arnott would be another big contract that BG would have to take with him heading into the new CBA. With such uncertainty about the future financial landscape of the NHL, maybe it's best not to be saddled with another big contract... unless of course one is going the other way in exchange.

Hossa and Rivet for Arnott ? I would even throw in a 3rd rd pick. Dallas has played better of late so I don't know if they are still looking to deal. If they are I would be EXTREMELY interested in Brendan Morrow.

Yvon Pedneault said during the telecast last night that MTL has never spoken to Dallas about Arnott.

I am fairly confident that the Habs will not make a trade this year. They will stay the course and go with what's brought them this far. To do anything against this plan would make no sense for someone like Gainey who has his eye on the big picture. Gainey will look at the season as a year of growth for the young core of the team - whether they make the Playoffs or not. Next year might be a different story.
