Glad to see Bergevin is getting down to business. Hamilton should have an interesting team next year. Lets hope the Habs don't rush him and allow him a chance to develop properly. He has the potential to be a top defenseman in Montreal for many years to come.

PK and Beauleau on first and second pairings. We should be able to get the puck out of our zone. Paired with Gorges and Tinordi to back them up. Throw in Markov (as much as remains) and we should be ok on D.

This is good news. I suspect he'll have a pretty good camp, and there will be subsequent pressure from fans and media, but I hope he plays a full season in Hamilton.

This is based on very limited viewings of the guy, but I think he needs a lot of work. He skates well and has good offensive instincts, but he didn't totally stand out from what I saw from the Memorial Cup and he was pretty much invisible at the WJC. Not sure what happened there, but he ended up at the bottom of the depth chart.
He's still got upside, but he needs to be a better all around player and develop a bit of nastiness and competitiveness to his game.

Tremblay could have had raw eggs in his pants and never broke one in his career. Beaulieu seems to be another PK, maybe one day even better. I'd rather see him playing than watching Gill. We aren't building for tomorrow, we're building for a few years down the road. Let the kids play.

Beaulieu isn't an overly physical player but the nastiness is there. I have seen him step in for a teammate or stand up for himself on more than one occasion. In fact he is quite capable of taking care of himself......he just isn't a banger. There are a few fight clips of him circulating the internet www.youtube.com/watch?v=XTqwV8haUcswww.youtube.com/watch?v=h0q74XpQ1OcWith his skating ability it is time to move to the AHL to be challenged. I don't think he has been overly challenged the last 2 years in Major Junior. Especially this year as he became the #1 Defenseman after Simon Despres graduated to the AHL He has had quality coaching in Gerard Gallant but needs to be challenged by 220lb forwards on a nightly basis before he will be ready for the show

no way Beaulieu would have made this team were the previous management team still in place.

Subban, Tinordi, Beaulieu Three young guys who will be excellent defensemen with some seasoning. Los Angeles has shown us that Kovalchouk skills can be shut down by hard work from less than talented players who are hungry and play with heart.

Give him good chance...I remember the reviews on here when McDonagh had a terrible WJC.

Well with guys like this on board, next seasons HabsRus's Bulldogs thread, will be alittle more interesting.....unlike last years lol
Great skater.... Love his game. Just hope he doesn't turn out to be a Brisebois. Great tools but never realized his full potential. If Brisebois had just alittle poise he could of been very good.

Brisebois was always, just a little......frightened. That's why he lacked poise. Beaulieu has no such problem.

I ended up following less Bulldogs games last year for sure, so I share your enthusiasm that this year's product will be a lot more exciting with all the young new players on the team. When you look at an incoming class of Tinordi, Gallagher, Beaulieu, Ellis, Bournival, Holland and Pateryn, that's quite a few "players to watch". They will be a young team for sure, but a lot more interesting considering a number of those players should end up playing with the Habs at some point in the future. Last year was a grind. Their team was always so depleted by injuries and callups, so the quality of the product was never all that good. Their starting goalie was often injured, so that really exposed the lack of depth in our goaltending pipeline (Mayer and Delmas). Their key veteran forward (Willsie) who was brought in to provide offense and mentor the kids only started scoring in the last two months of the season, when they were all but eliminated from the playoffs. Too little, too late. It was hard to assess how well Coach Jodoin did, given that he never really had a full and proper lineup all year. He will definitely get to put all his CHL coaching experience to use this fall with such a large and young incoming class. Now if only the four Canadian based AHL teams could ever get better national TV coverage.

Their starting goalie was often injured, so that really exposed the lack of depth in our goaltending pipeline (Mayer and Delmas). and this brings up another thought [and probably thread]: what to do about our lack of G depth? Our 3rd has to stay [unless by some miracle we move up -- without giving up PK!] so that means 33rd [or 32nd if NJ gives up their pick -- it is a 1st, isn't it?]. So . . . to move up and take MSubban . . . what would it take and how late will he go? Or do we go with someone a bit lower on the chart [or maybe grab one non-drafted]?

They are projecting M. Subban as the first goaltender to go. He is also slated anywhere from 12 to 20. I just don't how they Habs could trade for him unless they are giving up two seconds for him. I would definetly start looking for a prospect goalie in round 3 though.

Who needs a goalie?
He won't go . . .
2 - CBJ 4 - NYI 5 - TML 7 - Minny 10 - TBay
so . . .
14 - Calgary 19 - TBay
after that he's up for grabs.
I'm thinking a G at the 51 spot [2nd pick 2nd round]

I have completed a list of possible picks with all of the Habs' six picks this draft, and there are some goalies listed from that second pick (either #33 or 32 - and I would expect it will be a 32nd pick this year). I expect both Vasilevski and Subban should go in the first round, so I have Dansk as a possible late first rounder or someone whom we should very seriously consider with that 33/32 pick. I have a couple of other goalies targeted with later picks as well, as it is time to bolster that part of the depth chart. I fully expect they will draft one goalie with those six picks. p.s. I will be posting my draft list here shortly. Just writing it up. I have the players narrowed down, but just want to provide a short description of them for all of you guys.
