Joined Fleetwood Mac after Peter Green left, leading the change from a blues band to a [dare I say it] pop band. Left Fleetwood Mac just before the band hit the big time. Great guitarist. reportedly committed suicide due to health issues. "Rock and Roll Heaven" just grew by one.

Great songwriter. A sad ending to a great career. The song "Sentimental Lady" reminds me a lot of my teens when it use to get a lot of airplay.

One of the best. Too soon.
Wonder what his health issues were.
His fellow guitar player in Fleetwood Mac, Bob Weston, died this past January at age 64. Gastrointestinal hemorrhage.
Here are the two Bobs with FM in 1973 on the Midnight Special.
Pre-Buckingham/Nicks.
John McVie and Mick Fleetwood...more than a solid rhythm section.

Bart Herbison, executive director of the Nashville Songwriters Association, quoted his wife Wendy as saying Welch had spinal surgery three months ago and doctors told him he would not get better, and he did not want her to have to care for an invalid. CBCWhich brings up a whole 'nuther debate [which I will pass starting, participating in, or finishing]. Ottawa's ALS walk is next Saturday.
