Considering the number of Rocket players recently drafted by the Habs, I guess this can be seen as propsect news: Times & Transcript | QMJHL Hockey As published on page D2 on May 26, 2005Coach lands new pactCHARLOTTETOWN (CP) - Alain Vigneault has signed a five-year contract to remain head coach of the QMJHL's P.E.I. Rocket. Reaching the deal didn't take long. It was during post-season, state-of-the-team meeting with Rocket president and general manager Serge Savard Jr., where the talks began. Minutes later there was an agreement. "I had my meetings with my players and the staff and one night I had a long meeting with Serge where I debriefed him," Vigneault said yesterday. "We had talked about two to three hours, starting talking about contract and it took 15 minutes." The deal will keep Vigneault with the organization through the 2010 season. There is an escape clause in the contract. The Rocket will release him if an NHL job becomes available. That, says the coach, is not a priority at the present. "My No. 1 goal is to make this a winning franchise," said Vigneault, a former head coach with the Montreal Canadiens and the 2000 Jack Adams Trophy runner-up for NHL coach of the year. - tinyurl.com/8ohat
