Andreas Engqvist Signs in the KHL Jun 27th, 2012 at 11:23 am by Stephan Cooper
In a move no one was expecting, Habs prospect center Andreas Engqvist, has signed a one-year deal with the KHL team Alanti Mytischi based out of Moscow.
Most were expecting the big center to either remain in the Canadiens organization and likely start with the Hamilton Bulldogs or return to his old Eliteserin squad Djurgardens IF Stockholm.
As the Habs extended a qualifying offer to Engqvist they retain his rights and may re-sign him next summer.
The KHL is generally between the NHL and AHL in quality of play. Thus it is likely an AHL star who can’t crack an NHL lineup like Engqvist will be a good but not spectacular player in Russia.awinninghabit.com/2012/06/27/andreas-engqvist-signs-in-the-khl/ (link)
