This kid is the younger brother of the San Jose Sharks defenseman. Christian Memorial HS. He is 6'4", shoots left and a great multi sport athlete. He was overlooked in the draft by all the GM's. They may know something I don't. We should invite him to camp!

To camp out, maybe. He might be one of those 'diamonds in the rough' HA is talking about, or he could be the concrete in his front driveway too.

I asked my son if he knows of any undrafted NCAA players who might be worth looking into as free agents. He suggested a kid named Greg Hornby who left Cornell. He's 5-10 220 and is an absolutely brutal hitter and good defensively. Does Dan Linn have any impression of Hornby?

He's 5-10 220 and is an absolutely brutal hitter and good defensively. Does Dan Linn have any impression of Hornby? Yes, Horny is the man! He's a thicker Begin. Runs into every player, hits hard often and hard. His offensive game is not much, but he's a solid enegry crash and bang type. I would love to see him signed for Hamilton, but I'd be surprised. I would think he'll go the ECHL route. Other FA NCAAers. Rene Bourque (Wisconsin). Big center, works hard, hits, goes to the net hard. Skates well. Lukas Dora- (Denver) smaller player but a pain to play against, gets under the skin of teams. (although I've heard the Kings are interested in him) Evan Schwabe- (UMD) small skilled winger, good hands Luke Fulgham, Gabe Gauthier, Tim Stapleton, Marty Guerin, Andy Green, Joe Zappala, Alex Parez, Joey Crabb, Michelle Leveille, Rich Perverly (Ryan Glenn's teammate) Jon Smith (Colgate, I like this kid a lot, but he will be a junior next year) Here's some QMJHL overagers, FA Vlad Balaz, Grabriel Balasescu, Yan Gaudette, Yan Busque, Guillaume Fournier, Martin Slovak, Yannick Tifu, Karl Gagne, Pascal Pelletier, Guillame Demers, Daniel Spare, M-A Burea (PEI), JF Cyr (was at campe in '02), Francios Gagon, Justin Laverdiere, Cote (Rimouski).

Defensemen latest in CM line By Steve Conroy Wednesday, June 23, 2004 Catholic Memorial players are no strangers to the NHL draft.
From Ted Donato to Jim Carey to Chris O'Sullivan to Jeff Kielty, the Knights have been well-represented in the league's annual auction. That's no surprise, with the program winning 15 state titles in 19 years.
The tradition could continue this year with CM defensemen Steve McLellan and Chris Fahey, both of Milton, hoping to be taken when the draft is held Saturday and Sunday in Raleigh, N.C.
Neither is ranked particularly high - McLellan is listed 181st and Fahey 229th among North American skaters by Central Scouting - but veteran CM coach Bill Hanson believes both have considerable upside.
McLellan, who had eight goals and 18 assists for the state champs last season, will spend a year at Cushing Academy before heading to Northeastern. Hanson believes it's just a matter of maturity before it all comes together for McLellan.
``He's as physically gifted as any player I've ever had and maybe more so,'' said Hanson. ``He's got good offensive skills, but he didn't score a lot of points just because of the way we play. . . . His strong points are, he handles the puck so well, he's just going to make the right play all the time coming out of his own end. When he matures and gets to the next level, offensively things will take care of themselves.''
At 6 feet, 170 pounds, McLellan's main concerns are to improve his strength and to prove himself at a higher level.
``If there was any school that could help me . . . CM would be the team to help me to get to where I am now,'' McLellan said. ``I know I wouldn't have taken back going to CM. I'd go back to CM for four years again. Whatever's going to happen will happen. You just have to trust (the scouts') instincts.''
Size is not a problem for the 6-5, 225-pound Fahey. It's a matter of him catching up to the growth spurt he went through in high school.
``I'm still growing a little bit, so it was a little hard in that respect,'' said Fahey, whose older brother, Jim, is in the San Jose Sharks organization. ``Going into my freshman year, I was 5-11. Then over the years at CM, I grew six inches. So trying to keep up with that is a little difficult. But you get used to it and I'm just trying to work with it.''
He made a believer out of Hanson.
``Once his body stops growing, there's no limit to what he can do. He's such a good athlete,'' Hanson said. ``He can play basketball, he can play volleyball, and his athleticism will lead you to believe that he can be every bit as good, if not better, than his brother, Jimmy. And I wouldn't have said that two years ago.''
Though Chris Fahey is about five inches taller than Jim, he finds himself in a similar situation as draft weekend approaches. Jim Fahey, also a CM grad, was on the bubble in 1998 and was chosen 212th by San Jose. Now he's one of the Sharks' better blue line prospects.
``Jimmy was kind of in the same situation. He was never expecting much, then he got picked and he's worked hard for it,'' said Chris, who will attend Northfield-Mt. Hermon in the fall. ``He's just told me to work hard and, whatever happens, don't worry about it, don't stress over it. Just keep playing.''
6'5" with athleticism brains and attitude. Young enough to not have filled out his rapid growth. If he hasn't been drafted is there any way to lock him up?

I liked this guy but he's fallen off the radar screen. Does anybody have an update on Fahey?
