Doesn't cost anything to invite them. Late bloomers, and people who fell through the cracks, abound. The good scouts find them.

Al Iafrate....cannon of a shot, million dollar legs and two cent head. Let's hope the apple has fallen far from the tree.

Makarov looked really good coming in off the bench in that thrilling 6-5 WJC game against Canada in January. He (and one timely post) stopped that phenominal comeback attempt. He was also very very good against a tough Swedish team in the final. He plays with two of our prospects in Saskatoon. I did read somewhere that some team has already invited him out to their summer development camp. Iafrate seems to be lacking something so far, as I saw some real polarizing opinions on him leading up to the draft. He was in Kitchener, so likely got a whole lot of viewings by scouts. At the end of the day, some kids just don't all develop at the same pace. It is always good to keep some potential undrafted gems on your invite list as try outs. That Ranford kid has always caught my eye when I have watched him play. Not a bad invite if he does accept in September.
