If no season hope to hell we end up with third pick again. Barkov! He looks like the real deal, and I have seen a picture of him in a Habs hat before...so he clearly knows what he wants!! I expect he will have a great WJC this year for Finland. He already looked good as a 16 year old in last year's tourney in AB, where I was able to see a few of his games live. He just turned 17 last month, so he still will be one of the younger players in the lineup.

If no season hope to hell we end up with third pick again. Barkov! Trade up and grab MacKinnon. He is the real deal. Very big, plays physical and can skate. Does not shy away, goes into the dirty areas and best of all, has very soft hands. It will take alot to get him, but IMO he is worth it. At seventeen years old, he is head and shoulders, better than anyone else on the ice.

Enjoy reading about them, especially now with no NHL.

Good article...if Holland proves out could be steal of trade. This draft is very deep With our three second round picks, we should have four picks in the top 50 picks or so in that deep draft. Pretty stoked about that.

Just looking at the top 3, McKinnon, Jones and Barkov, I suspect all three would have gone ahead of Yakupov if they were in the same draft. That says something about the quality compared to last year.

Our two OHL prospects went head to head last night as Windsor and Sarnia clashed. Alex Galchenyuk came away the clear winner as he was the game's first star, his team won 5-2, and he ended the night with 2 goals and 1 helper and kept Mr. Vail off the scoresheet. I saw some video highlights of Alex's points last night and some of his other moves...man, the kid was on top of his game last night. From all accounts from those at the game, he was very dominant from start to finish. This kid has slick skill. I will post the full highlights once they go up on the OHL (or team) site. EDIT: Here is a link to the highlights. They do not show Gally's empty netter, but suffice to say it was a nice two on zero with nothing but an empty net staring the lads in the face. Gally took the pass and bulged the twine!! www.sarniasting.com/video/index/channel/139

Bozon may be great winger for Galchenyuk someday. Holland also where he is good playmaker

A good comparison for Holland might be Bert Olmstead. I never saw him play, but he scored his 10 to 15 goals a year, but usually had 3 times as many assists. A digger type, ideal for the other scorers on those great Habs teams.

The kid line in Hamilton has been its best (Holland, Bournival and Gallagher).

Yawn. Another game, another three points for Bozon. One goal and two assists on Saturday night. He keeps his grips on third spot in the Dub scoring race and he moves into sole possession as top goal scorer in the league.

The kid line in Hamilton has been its best (Holland, Bournival and Gallagher). I've liked Bournival a lot. While he didn't put up as much points as we'd have liked, I saw numerous cases where he'd make an amazing pass to a teammate, who would miss the net, or hit the goalie. Very much like Saku in his prime, who should have had a lot more points than he got. Playing with Oleg Petrov and Mr October will do that. Bournival is defensively responsible, has good wheels and decent hands. He probably should be higher up our prospect chart. The best case scenario for him is a solid #2 centre. Time will tell.

And here are the Bozon highlights from Saturday. What stands out for TB is his eye hand coordination and the quickness with which he shoots. First goal was bang bang off a goalie rebound and his 2nd assist was a one timer slap shot off a feed into the high slot with Smith getting that rebound and putting it in. Bozon hits the bar or post in the 2nd on a break. He had the goalie beaten but not the post as the saying goes. www.blazerhockey.com/video/index/id/4ad374058f2ffb72e7ce141a3e44eed7

Galchenyuk with 3 points today in Sarnia's 4-1 win over the Battalion. Gally scored on a breakaway in the 3rd to make it 3-1 and seal the victory. He added an assist on an empty netter. He was by far the best player on the ice for either team. He would have a ton more points on a better team. His hands are very impressive, he stickhandled his way through tons of players as if the puck was on a string. This was the most impressive part of his game. He played RW and only took a couple of draws which he lost. Skating was fluid and fast. Not very physical but you can see this guy has vision and hands. I came away very impressed by this kid.

Bozon with two more points today in a 4-3 OT victory over Seattle. Also +2 on the night. As an aside, a 17 year old d-man for Seattle, Shea Theodore (sounds like he's born to be a Hab), had a goal and an assist. He has 10 points in 13 games so far for Seattle, is listed as 6-2, 175 lbs. The weight may be a little low, but from seeing this guy earlier this year, he has great wheels and he's one of those guys who can go end to end at any given moment. He doesn't turn 18 until August, so he's draft eligible. Man there are a lot of good guys available this year.
Thanks for those great comments about Galchy, 24. It's reassuring to feel he is the real deal, given the not quite awesome point production. He is indeed on a weak team, so it's understandable. Always great to get affirmation, though.

Always great to get affirmation, though. He now has 4 goals and 12 points in his last eight games, so he does seem to be finding his groove again. He is now tied for fifth in OHL scoring, and that's not bad considering he does not have as strong a supporting cast as other guys do. His knee appears to be strong, he seems to have regained his timing and game shape, and he is putting up points without Yakupov in the lineup. A lot of the big question marks heading into this season seem to be answered so far.

Sarnia played an ok game. Nothing special, but they were badly outshot. It was easily double in favour of Brampton. However, when Gally was on the ice the ice tilted the other way. He couldn't be contained and was creating scoring chance after scoring chance for his teammates. One play I saw him stickhandle around two B-town players and charge the puck deep into the zone, dishing the puck off tape-to-tape only to have the recipient whiff on the shot. He created a couple of nice give-and-gos where the return pass would come back into his skates or behind him. Put this kid on a powerhouse team and he'd have a boatload more points than he has now. He was that impressive.
About the RW thing, he played the whole game on the wing. Took a couple of faceoffs which he lost. His faceoff skills definitely need work if he's going to play center. That was the only concern I had with him.

Galchy's a lot like Saku in those early years, creating time and space for his less than prolific teammates, who gave it away. There's no doubt that Galchy's a centre. He has to have the puck. Faceoffs can be worked on.

Here's the video from the 4-1 win over Brampton. Galchy sure looks big in this vid. His goal is not what I'd call spectacular, but he gets to a clearing pass out of the zone which gets past the Brampton d-man and then the play is bang bang, cutting in, quick shot to the far side on the goalie. He seems to have a very long stick. www.ontariohockeyleague.com/video/index/id/57c4b3dec75bbe26da7d3d8064565a8b

His value will be a lot more to the team if he is a center For sure, gnick. Just checked the OHL scoring leader board, and Gally is in a three way tie for 6th in league scoring but is only 3 points behind the league leader. Nothing wrong with that. Of more interesting note is that Brady Vail is still hanging around, in a four way tie for 9th in league scoring, only one point back of Gally and four points behind the league leader.
