Best known for his role as George Jefferson. Details unknown right now. We've lost a lot of very good people of late.
RIP

He's making the final move on up, as it were.

Another "too soon" loss.
When Isabel Sanford passed away in 2004, I was very surprised to find out that she was 21 years older than Hemsley. When they were cast as the Jefferson's on All in the Family in 1971, she was 54....he was only 33.
Not too often the actress cast as the wife is older than the actor playing the husband...and certainly not that much older.
The opposite scenario occurred when William Frawley and Vivian Vance were cast as the Mertzes on I Love Lucy. When the show started in 1951, Frawley was 64...Vance was only 42.
From Wikipedia: Although the two actors worked well together, they greatly disliked each other. Most attribute their mutual hatred to Vance's vocal resentment of having to play wife to a man 22 years her senior. Frawley reportedly overheard Vance complaining; he took offense and never forgave her. "She's one of the finest girls to come out of Kansas," he once observed, "But I often wish she'd go back there." I wonder if each of those is the widest "actor age gap" in TV spouse history.

I liked The Jeffersons when it came out. Paul Benedict (the tall Englishman) was a memorable character.
Speaking of "too soon", sadly, Mike Evans is no longer with us either (throat cancer/IMDB.com). He played Lionel.
RIP as well.

Roxie Roker, mother of Lenny Kravitz, passed in 1995. Sanford in 2004. Cover in 2006. Bennedict in 2008. Sad when a show you watch growing up has most of the original cast deceased.
