25 years old....his girlfriend, 22. What the heck? Playing on the biggest stage in the world for his sport. You'd think he'd be living the dream. Head trauma? Substance abuse? Depression...either linked to those things...or just on its own? You just never know. If it's football related, you have to wonder if it will have any impact (pardon the pun) on the game at all. More likely, it'll be, "Well, that's what happens to some guys." Just like the enforcers in hockey. Waiting to hear about Junior Seau's brain pathology. Oct. 14, 2012 ArticleSeau's family donated their father's brain to the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke for further research. Seau's son Tyler anticipates getting the results of that study back in three to six months. I don't think too many people will be surprised if the report comes back with the conclusion that Seau had suffered major damage to his brain through years of repetitive blows to his head. Tyler says now that he's aware of the symptoms for traumatic brain injuries, he knows that his dad "had every single one of them."

25 years old....his girlfriend, 22. My first thought when I heard this .... what a selfish *&^%$#!!!! He gave absolutely no consideration to his 3 month old child, who now has to live without a father and a mother. Nor his mother, who was present when he shot his girlfriend. But he took the time to find GM Pioli right before he shot himself and said "I'll love you, bro"

A person who would do that is not even remotely thinking clearly or sanely. Completely off the rails for some reason.
Unfortunately, he targeted his head...so pathology isn't likely.

I have to disagree CH He went out of his way to thank Pioli, and asked Pioli to get Romeo Crenell and others to come out and see him so he could thank all those that gave him a chance. He knew exactly what he did, and what he was going to do, ...

It may have been pre-meditated, Skilly, but when people plan and commit a murder-suicide, they aren't thinking rationally. They've snapped, no matter who they thank. When he got to his coaches, he'd already killed his girlfriend. What state of mind would one have to be in to then drive to thank people, knowing suicide is next? Not what psychologists would call a normal state. I'm relieved that, for some reason, he didn't include the baby in his plan. Many of these men take out the whole family.
