Like what the Jays have done so far in the off season. Just some of the impact players they've added:
shortstop Jose Reyes, left-hander Mark Buehrle
right-hander Josh Johnson
infielder Emilio Bonifacio
catcher John Buck
free-agent outfielder Melky Cabrera
Feel bad for Marlins fans. They have Jeff Loria as an owner and he was a fire-sale specialist in Montreal. Expos fans know what it's like to have the rug pulled out from underneath them.
Are the Jays done? Some think not. I'd like to see them add a reliever. Tony Kornheiser (Pardon the Interruption) says the Jays are 25 games better this year.
Glad to see Farrell move on. He didn't have a grip on that team whatsoever.
Cheers.

I've been watching the Jays off and on for the past several years. To my understanding, they have very good hitters, but are not as strong on defense, and their bullpen has always struggled. Do you think they're better defensively and in pitching after these deals, Dis?

Yes, I do think they're better Matt. They had no structure in the dugout, too many injuries (the team seemed to give up at one point), a weak manager and a less-than-reliable bullpen.
Pitching; they've got five bonafide starters and the skinny is they might be looking for a sixth. They have a young guy in their system, Hutchinson, and he was 5-2 before he went down to injury. When he comes back he cold be a sixth starter or a middle-relief guy. I'd like to see them pick up a reliever.
Defensively, I think the addition of Reyes will raise the level of that infield. They also picked up a couple of utility infielders as well. They're good to have around and it gives the Jays some depth.
This year I think they're going to be in the same conversation as the Tigers, Red Sox and Yankees. Of those three I can see the Tigers being the better club. Their pitching took a pounding against San Fransisco but they're usually a lot better.
We're planning to hit the Jays' home opener. There should be a lot of optimism for Jays fans this year. More so if Bautista comes back completely healed.
Cheers.

Mets' R.A. Dickey-to-Blue Jays rumours pick up steam By MELISSA COUTO, QMI AgencyTORONTO - Rumours that the Blue Jays could be close to landing knuckleballer R.A. Dickey from the New York Mets began to gather serious momentum on Friday night. Though the Jays have been showing interest in Dickey for a while — GM Alex Anthopoulos reportedly inquired into his availability during the winter meetings — numerous online reports suggested that a multi-player deal to send the 2012 National League Cy Young Award winner north of the border could be ironed out as early as Saturday. Heading to New York from Toronto’s roster could be 26-year-old catcher J.P. Arencibia, and 22-year-old centre fielder Anthony Gose. slam.canoe.ca/Slam/Baseball/MLB/Toronto/2012/12/14/20433256.html (link)

The Jays are now 8-1 favourites for the World Series. That's tops in the majors!
Chapeau!
