Saw "The Hobbit" last night with Mrs Dis. If you liked "The Lord of the Rings" then you'll like this movie as well. Very entertaining.
Also saw "Lincoln" last week as well. If you're not a history buff you may not like this slow-paced, non-action movie. I didn't know a lot about that period of US political history so I rather enjoyed it because I learned a few new things. Daniel Day-Lewis continues to amaze me at how well he develops his characters. Simply outstanding character in Lincoln. On the other side of the coin is his leading lady, Sally Fields. As much as I admire her previous work I didn't think she sold the part all that well. She's a tad melodramatic in some scenes and it took away from the movie for me. But, hey, some folks probably felt she did an outstanding job. To each their own.
Will be looking forward to a few new movies in 2013 as well. But, that's another topic.
Cheers.

Thanks for the reviews, Dis. My wife is really looking forward to seeing Les Miserables.
Hope you don't mind if I use this thread to include classic Christmas movies....
Four I try to see every year....
1. National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation. Lots of memorable, hilarious scenes.
2. It's A Wonderful Life. Gets me every time. James Stewart's natural acting style is at its best here.
3. A Christmas Carol. (Alistair Sim version.) Brilliant performance.
4. The Apartment. Not what you'd call a Christmas movie per se...but the climax centres around this time of year...and it's pretty hard to beat Jack Lemmon, Fred MacMurray, and Shirley MacLaine.

Right on, CH. Mrs Dis and I always enjoy an annual showing of Scrooged with Bill Murray. The whole movie was well-casted and well-done in general. Non-stop one-liners are what made the movie for me.
"The bitch hit me with a toaster ..."
Brilliant!
Cheers.

You guys need to add "The Ref" with Denis Leary to your Christmas movie list. Kevin Spacey is fantastic in it.
