saw the movie the other day . . . almost had to swim out of the theatre there was such a big pool of tears.
anyone else see it? what did you think? [I'll hold back my comments for a couple of days so as not to influence the direction the thread may go]. oh, and if you saw it, did you also see the stage show? how did it compare?

Did you voluntarily walk into the theater?

No doubt there was, ahem, 'spousal' coercion involved, HA. I saw the stage show years ago and enjoyed it. The music is great, the story ok.

yes, HA, it was a voluntary walk . . . family movie and all that . . . and I paid!
for all the hype and build-up to it and its comparisons to the stage play . . . meh. saw the Toronto production a number of years ago, this was nothing like it. adequate singing and the kept fairly close to the original [how could you but?].
my one-word review: lacking. it didn't compare to the power of the stage production, which I, like 17, enjoyed [and I'm not a stage type of guy -- unless I'm on it, of course].

Saw the stage play in Toronto several years ago. Didn't think I'd like it, but we had great seats and the performances were mesmerizing.
My wife really wants to see the movie...but I can wait, even though it's likely got Oscar written all over it, considering the legacy.

Was thinking of seeing it with Mrs Dis but then I saw Russell Crowe was in it. He's done a few good movies but seems to bring the same type of character to the screen quite often. I really should give it a chance, though. Just can't get by Russell Crowe singing Have a buddy who wants to see "Lincoln". I already saw it and I might go back and see it again. I didn't quite catch everything the first time around. The only other movie I went to see a second time on the big screen (within recent memory) was "Saving Private Ryan." "Lincoln" is a completely different movie, though. Cheers.

She has a girlfriend from way back and they arrange their "woman night out". Meaning theater or certain movies and Chinese dinner. Pizza and picking her up at the subway is gleefully sadly a very small price to pay to avoid miss two hours of water boarding cultural essentials. Anybody see where I put my nose ring?
